With the Olympics, literally, about to begin in London how excited are you by them?
Yes - this is fantastic, bring it on. I'm really excited.
Great news, it will be a good thing to occupy my summer.
I'm not in the UK, and wish I could go.
I'm not in the UK and am so glad I can't go.
Olympics, what Olympics?
Meh

Some Latin inspiration: Nec Aspera Terrant; Hoc Locus Stercus Est
And some memorable quotes: 'Never forget that the entire point of this game is shooting girly elves.' (Dr Potamus); 'Hooray, it's another sunny day on WhineSeer.' (Darnok); 'this might shock you, but even this hobby is filled with idiots...'(Botjer)
Not at all.
IMO the Olympics are too big, with too many different sports I can't believe anybody cares about. As far as I'm concerned that devalues the whole thing.

The ancient olympics were about a peaceful trial of strength in honor of the gods.
The modern olympics are about MONEY, like everything else, too. I hope it all burns to the ground.
(Fun fact: up until 2 days ago I didn't know there were actual olympics imminent)
well its all over the place at moment were ever you look and soon it be in your pockets when it come for needing paying for the bloody thing, we are not called rip of britan for nothing tax rise here we all come!
I didn't know they were on.
I live in the east of the UK and it affects me in no way at all, i really dont care about it in any way shape or form.
With it being horribly over budget and the fiasco with Group 4, might as well just had a giant bonfire of the money.

I heard people started calling it the war games, because there were rockets installed on roofs even!
Now... if war gaming was an olympic item...
I still wouldn't watch. Battle reports are boring.

I'm pretty excited, though I must say the atmosphere's been damped somewhat by public cynicism, which I find unafir on the actual athletes. It's a great event that celebrates human acheivement and brings the world together - got tickets for athletics, handball and water polo.
Slightly. Seeing it raining in London and the amused looks of all the English people there I felt a stirring of...something. However, facts are facts. It cost a lot when we can ill afford it. We will be paying for it for years. For the next few weeks the government has a free pass to do whatever they want and I don't trust them enough for that. I also don't enjoy being told that I'm excited and proud of my country and the time to go mad and celebrate that is NOW! I'm all of those things but I'm happy to celebrate in my own quiet way thanks.
Still, cheer up you grumpy buggers. It should be a good sporting event and a great display of world class sporting ability.

Watching Tour de France in Australia = No sleep
A little. I like athletics but in Australia we get wall to wall coverage of the swimming and it drives me nuts! There are way too many swimming events! Everyone knows freestyle is the fastest, just have the men's 100 meters and so on. Everyone will do freestyle.
I don't see the women's 200meter light jog, they just sprint. Do the same for swimming.
Sorry, bit of a rant but 30 years of swimming oversaturation has bugged me no end.

Not bothered at all to be honest. Being in the wilds of Scotland it's kind of passed me by a little... May watch a couple of the finals but overall Meh...
My personal thoughts are that the Olympics are meant to be the pinnacle of achievement, so I can understand things like the swimming, the running and the throwing, as well as the football, handball, wrestlng etc, but events like synchronised seimming and other 'arty' events should have no place. There's too much scope for aesthetics, and personal preference from judges... and as for the football, why bother if you're going to restrict entrants? If it's to find the best, then let each country enter a proper team...
I think at times of economic austerity, it's a bit crass to throw millions and millions at a sporting event. I know people will argue that it brings investment, but there must be better ways to generate meaningful investment in the UK as a whole than holding a multi multi million pound event primarilty in London
I like how the options range from "This'll be fantastic" to "Meh", because the absolute worst you're allowed to feel about the olympics is indifference
I hate it. The ceremony will start in 10 minutes and it'll be a butt-clenching embarrassment. We've had two major foul-ups in two days (The Korean Flag incident and the "unticketed" event thing) and there will be many, many more to come. LOCOG's draconian rules, G4S's halfassed pennypinching security, the Olympic traffic lanes that make no sense, the wasted money, the stupid, stupid pandering and jingoism...I hate it all
Britain didn't deserve the Olympics when we got it. In fact, we shouldn't even have been bidding for it, there were bigger things to worry about, and when the financial crisis got worse budgets should have been reigned in, not run over.
The long-term benefit is debatable at best, the short-term effects are going to cripple London and our legacy will be as a laughing stock.
7 minutes to go. Strap in.
EDIT: Oh god, they put "God Save the Queen" (an anti-monarchy song) and "London's Calling" (about debt and unemployment-fuelled riots) into the ceremony. PMSL

At least the middle part looks like Warhammer! With a pinch of Wood Elves thrown in with that big tree.
Could it be a sign? Are Wood Elves next?

I'm sick to death of it been rammed down my throat my the media for months , especially the BBC, insisting the entire country is going to be interested and inspired by the London 2012 Games.
Guess what? I don't know a single person who is interested in this farce.
BTW the Games actually started two days ago in Cardiff.

Ah, thanks for reminding the rest of the world of the most fundamental values of the UK again: Imperialism, Environmental Pollution and Misogyny!![]()
That also bugs me too... I know there's lots of games to get through in the football, but why start 'the games' before the opening ceremony?
because there's a whole tournament, and it would overrun

I voted "meh". But then, I'm in the USA, so it's not that geographically close.
I'm just not really big on spectator sports. I like watching baseball (it's the closest thing in sports to a turn-based game!) but that's about it.
