@Eldrad: My assumption would be that they start with the Heresy kickoff battle on Istvaan V(?): Salamanders, Raven Guard, and Iron Hands vs. World Eaters, Emperor's Children, and Sons of Horus iirc. Of course we know the ending after the Night Lords, Iron Warriors, etc. deploy...

But wasn't Prosperi technically the first battle?

Except that it will. Just think about the umpteenth Land Raider Something version they can release now! And all the shoulder pads! And new laser cannons that look slightly different!! Maybe even Rhino variants!! Oooo, exciting!!

I know us xeno players sometimes sound like a grumpy bunch, but seriously, there are more factions. Sometimes it depresses me when I realize the extent to which 40k is Empire-centric. Just a little variety, not yet more power armour. I guess it's a matter of taste.

I'd imagine it'd be in chronological order, makes more sense. I'd imagine them beginning with Isstvan and continuing from their... since it'd be strange to cover the heresy without first introducing the major villain and his first major act of betrayel. Although, isstvan would be a lot of legions for one book (unless they split the book, or have a generic legion list that can be altered via characters or legion doctrines or some such).

Either way, I'm giddy with excitement.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Xenos player too. I just dont see the point of getting despondent about it.

I don't doubt there will be some new Imperial releases, but with all the stuff they've done already they have a good base of things to start with - which means they can focus on just writing material and doing character models rather than spending more time sculpting marks of power armor. That way they can do models for xenos stuff in the IA line.

Nope. Those were just lies and guesses, trust me. X has nothing to do with Y, and the two never met in those circumstances.

I agree, but at the same time, many of these variants are easier and faster to do and release than brand new xenos models. FW also tends to wait on new books for a feel of the new rules and appearance of a faction, whereas Marine models and rules are relatively consistent.

I am most looking forward to a Warlord Titan kit from this set of FW Heresy books. The heresy was originally designed to reduce sprues needed for Adeptus Titanicus, so Warlords and Space Marines could be used on both sides, so using a Heresy release to cover the Warlord would be rather appropriate.

    Thanks ADB for the note.

which warlord are you expecting? I really want a beetle back. The straight line one is cool, but doesn't really fit in with the other titans, and I don't really like the newer design/drawing that was in one of the IA books

So are we going to make this entire thread a massive whine about forgeworld doing marines? Seriously? Can we lock this and have another try at staying on topic?

Ah, Marines vs. Marines. In the grim darkness of the far future there is only Space Marines.

However, many ppl will like to see these books and it looks like FW is actually doing what ppl (note: I say ppl, not customers, because I doubt that more than 10% of the fans asking for such stuff actually ever bought anything from FW and even less bought their books instead of ripping some PDF) where asking for for years.

I'm not really a fan of the beetleback personally, but it is supposedly going to be based on it. Mars pattern (reaver weapons are supposed to be interchangeable with the Warlord) and I talked for a while with Mark at GD a year or so back. I hope we get either a female princeps or a princeps in a tank. We talked about those options for a while, as well as Carapace mount weapons.

Seeing the ugly dog Warhound turned into the lovely FW Mars pattern, and the spindly Reaver bulked out, I am confident that a warlord inspired by the beetleback but refined to be workable will look good.

The current blocky Epic Warlord is a Lucius pattern. Personally, I like the Mk II Warlord model they made, a middle ground between the rounded Beetleback and the Lucius model.

Think of all the great models that could come out of this though:
    Sisters of Silence
    Legio Cybernetica
    Custodes
    Mechanicus and Dark Mechanicus
    Skitarii
    Hover Rhinos...

You forgot Jetbikes and Stormbirds (I know, I know, they are larger than Mantas, but this is the only chance to ever make it).

I really like the Lucius, but it's just out of place. I don't really like the MKII because it's too upright... kind of have the same opinion of the reaver, although I think for the most part, that's just posing.
