The Will of the Nine Voices. (A Retribution Log)

Hello and welcome to my Retribution of Scyrah log. I have recently started going to a local gaming club where the main game is Warmachine (and hordes) and I have been persuaded into finally buying a propper warmachine force. I have played one or two very small games and got the starter set a few months back but hadn't really got any further than that untill last week when I bought a whole pile of new toys. In this log I will try and post photos of my Ret forces as well as ramble on about my thoughts on learning Warmachine and the Ret playstyle.
So here is a list of everything I have bought:

Ravyn
Stormfall archers
Mage hunters + UA
Mage hunter assassin
Sentinels + UA
Ghost sniper
Chimera
Pheonix
Magister solo

I think it is around 40 odd points all together and gives a fair amount of variety for playing 25 point games and small number of options at 35 too. As for gaming with these guys I have used the force 3 times and I love how they play. The first two games were 26 points (random I know but I really wanted to try out that list) and were against Menoth. In the first game I managed to get a caster kill off on the second turn thanks to my opponent leaving his caster in the open, Ravyn popping her feat and my Archers bombarding him with brutal shots. In the next game we played mosh pit and it ended as a draw, with both of us contesting the objective. Again my archers were the stars of the game taking all but 3 damage off a blood of Matyrs and generally being a pain for my opponent My thrid game was up to 35 points and was against eDoomy and Mulg. This game taught me alot about what Ravyn can actually do and I learnt a few good tricks and combos with her magic. Were as the last two games I could shoot and soften everything up before they got in close I found shooting at Mulg and the other trolls only did minimal damage and caused them to get more angry. It came down to Ravyn having to do most of the killing herself while everything else got in the way of the trolls to try and protect her. It was a very close game and involved Mulg pretty much rampaging through my entire army but I managed to pull off an assassination when Ravyn cast veil of mists onto the forest eDoomy was hiding behind and then charging in with her vortex of destruction up and a chimera for some support. I will be playing a bit more this week and am hoping to take some notes and shots of the game so I can do a propper battle report at some point.

Finally, here are some shots of my army as a whole and the few models I have painted so far (please excuse the poor lighting and lack of photographical skills and the lack of painted hair and eyes. As a side note if anyone wants to suggest a hair colour it would be great as I can't decide on any):





If anyone has seen my old and rather dead WE log from about a year ago they will recognise the colour sheme (although this is a bit more blue). I had planned on doing some nice dark elves but I saw someone else do blue elves and I couldn't resist painting mine blue too. Any way any comments and suggestions are welcome.

Looks cool. I like your painting. I particularly like the brown areas on the archer in the second picture.

Great to see more PP around here. The blue's really nice. I'll be very interested to see how you approach the Myrmidions as the flatness of them has always been an issue for me. The archers have always been the stars for me when I played Retribution as well.
