Ever read 'Knights of Bretonnia'? That plan can kinda backfire...

Nope, but it does sound like a very bad idea anyway, it seems that those babes invariably get picked up by local mutants or beastmen and get turned into cannon fodder. But it makes it sound like there's a lot, a real lot of them. That's why I don't think popping a mutated baby is too frightening to empire folk, it seems like a usual enough occurence, as weird as it might seem to us.

Witch hunters and paranoid peasants usually dispose of such occurrences.

I somehow got the feeling they're more tolerated in Tilea for some reason.

I do not fear stuff, so I guess I wouldn't live long.

But I'd go for the tax collector, or the local elector count, and maybe the city of Mordheim, If I'm "Superstitious".

Honestly? The nearest witch hunter and the local conscription levies. Last thing I want to do is sign up to be given a spear and told to stick the pointy end in the horrific chaos beast.

    you win.

Also babies given to Beasten are called Gaves, and are thought to be lucky and blessed, not cannon fodder.

Beastmen obviously Whatever those think anyway, in the books I've read, the mutants are always the rabble that gets killed first in droves, however lucky and blessed they're considered. That makes them cannon fodder.

Turnskins (people who develop mutations later in life) are treated like crap, worse than ungors in fact, and die in droves. Gaves are considered to be gifts from the gods however and normally end up being important or prominent members of the tribe like shamans or chieftains.

And things that require tactics are BAD. The less tactics involved, the better, and it means less things can go wrong.

The thing the King should fear most is his offspring. And his Queen. And his closest advisor. And the maid that brings him his cocoa before bed.

    Re: Scariest Baddies

Rural Empire - Definitely the neighbors. Aside from them being witches or cultists and them telling baseless lies about me to the taxman and witchhunters, there's the major risk that they will do something to get our entire village wiped off the map. Insult the wrong crone, and all our livestock die. Come back hunting too close to sunset, accidentally lead beastmen to our humble village. Bury their dead facing up, we all get eaten by zombies. Fail to properly honor the gods and our crops stop growing. Be careless with a lamp, oh good now my house is on fire and half the bucket brigade is already dead!

Urban Empire - Wizards. Particularly in Altdorf. Particularly the Bright College. Even those creepy necrophiliac purplerobe guys are better than them, because ooooooh spoooooky doesn't really match OH GOD MY HEAD IS ON FIRE. See the above statement about the dearth of surviving members in the bucket brigade.

Bretonnia - My lord. Sure, he protects me from Orcs, but who protects me from him? If I raise voice or hand to defend myself from him or his men, I'll be beaten. The best I can hope for in my life is that it is short.

Tilea - Ratmen. And rats, cuz that means the ratmen are coming. And disease, cuz that means the ratmen are coming. And rain, cuz that means the ratmen are coming. And politics, cuz one side is probably secretly being supported by the ratmen. And the ratmen are coming.

Border Princes - Everything. Oh dear sweet gods, everything.

    Sylvannia - The sun.

Just a beating? You have a right cheery view of Bretonnia, it's mentioned many lords will hang peasants for forgetting their birthdays, let alone such heinous acts as raising their... well anything in 'self-defense'.
