Warhammer Forge news from US Games Day

Spoke with Alan Bligh at Games Day US (real nice chap), and he told me the following:

1. The deadline the fine folks at Forge World have given themselves is to have dolls for all the entries from the first Monstrous Arcanum book out by Summer 2013.

2. There's going to be a story-driven book like Tamurkhan released every one or two years with new dolls and rules and focusing on different armies (next one is Empire + Dwarves vs. Orcs + Goblins and it focuses on a single battle; but we already knew that). These story-driven scenario/campaign/rule books will come out alongside new Monstrous Arcanum books as they are finished.

The next book will probably make me low on money then! I Hope they make some real cool goblin contraptions like big warwagons and such. Night goblins allteady have so much fun stuff!

I'll sink the cash based on the gobbo stuff. I'd love to see a campaign book focused on Tomb Kings vs Vampire Counts. That might be too much undead for one book though.

But a Nagash model would be fantastic as well as some of the other original vampires and Tomb Princes/Princesses.

Considering Forgeworld are going to be making models for Primarchs on the 40K side, I think its highly feasible that we will see some Godly characters from Warhammer get some Forgeworld treatment one day in the future. I think the only reason GW haven't done away with the Epic heros is because the rules wouldn't meet the fluff, but I hope Warhammer Forge character range will evolve like the 40K counterpart one day.

As long as each book they bring out is as popular as the last, I can't see this going down hill. Looking forward to see what the poor Dwaves get in the book, new stuff for the Empire is always great but they have so much stuff as it is (not a bad thing btw).

well we know for sure CD are getting the destroyer as it's in the monstrous arcanum, i was just hoping for some kind of a time line as i'm still waiting for bull centaurs.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot. I saw Bull Centaurs in the case. They're finished and they're awesome! And Deaf Paradox has a link to some substandard photos. Maybe I can get some up online. I took a few. Other than the CD stuff in Monstrous Arcanum being due out by Summer 2013, and the Bull Centaurs in the display case, I didn't get anything specific out of him for Chaos Dwarves. The name of the Empire + Dwarves vs. Orcs + Goblins book is something like Battle for Skull Pass, but I forget. I was taking so many photos, I forgot to write it down. I'll include a link if I can get the Bull Centaur photos up today.

thanks for the pics simonbeard! the old ones were sub-par. these pics make them look a lot nicer so hopefully we'll get them sooner.

if i recall correctly we got k'daai fireborn a couple of months after the models were shown at a public event, so maybe we'll get these september? here's hoping!

Happy to provide. And yeah, I'm assuming a similar timeline as the K'daai Fireborn. I was actually bummed that there weren't any new Warhammer Forge dolls at US Games Day. I was really looking forward to them surprising me with some fancy new monster or unit.

Also, Alan said that Forge World wasn't really going to be gap-filling in the GW product line anymore unless GW needed them to, and that they would be focusing on their own dolls/rules/etc.

Lovely Bull Centaurs... if only they weren't sword and board, which is possibly the single most ridiculous weapon loadout you could give them (apart from spear). Hope there's options - don't fancy converting my own great weapons from those poses.

There's been photos kicking around of them for a while though, can't be long now surely? Come to that... WF in general appears to have been almost forgotten about of late. I've lost track somewhat, but it's something like two WF releases in the last three months? What happened to alternating weeks? I realise they're not obliged to do that, but it was working well while they did...

spears arent a bad option if you are taking a centaur bus, 18 minis in the unit total, 6 wide 3 back with spears is quite handy

Splendid. I like that they have picked a specific niche, like a sourcebook (Monsters) or a campaign books and schedule their model releases around it. Looking forward to seeing more.

Good news indeed, hoping for and kinda dreading (Well the wallet is) shiny Orc and Goblin stuff, as long as its better than big squigs from black fire pass.

So many campaigns they can create or revisit - would love them to do a campaign book focusing on the blood keep seige and build up, or the battle of Praag etc although that is a lot of empire - a lustria themed book with Lizardmen, dark elves, tilean explorers and norse would be fantastic.

Maybe with them looking at Horus Heresy in 40k, they may do the same in warhammmer with the time of legends stuff - a Khemri army as described in the nagash books would probably make me very poor, or indeed a first battle of blackfire pass book with the beserker king and the chariots.... I suppose they could do some skirt wearing elves as well :P
