Skimmers in 6th Ed

Hello,

Could people clear up a few questions I have regarding skimmers. I missed out 5th ed but in 4th ed these things were the norm in our local store. If you can also provide the page the rule is confirmed on that would be great.

1, Can a dis-embarked unit shoot under the transport they've just come out of? (A regular trick with the Tau firewarriors and Devilfish)

2, Once a skimmer finishes it's move (say behind a large building providing 100%cover) can the player decide at what height the skimmer is at so they can still pop a few shots off above the coving item?

True line of sight from the models answers both of those queries.

In both cases True Line of Sight rules:

1) if the skimmer model is high enough that the disembarked unit can see under it to their target, then they can indeed fire.

2) the stand determines its height, and hence if it can fire (the rule allowing you to 'fly above' terrain is long gone).

Sorry to play devil advocate but don't gamers who play with skimmers like this get "annoyed" at the fact they've modeled a certain height to the skimmer? I can just see many players at my local club arguing this point.

If it's on the official stand then no problems. If someone has deliberately, obviously modeled for advantage then it's different.

Are you sure about that? If that's true then why aren't all Gabriel Seths mounted on Dreadnaught bases?
