Necron List Help: 6th Ed Update
Hey there everyone!
I'm here to ask for help. I recently finished up my latest project (SoB) and I was about to head into my Necrons. Now, I wrote this back in 5th ed.
Now with all the changes of 6th ed (double force org?) I'm sure this can be updated quite a bit more.
So please, help me boost this list up to this edition =D
Thanks in Advance: WarHammerman
Tomb World Necrons : 2500 pts.
- the goal here is to go for "indestructible" - and I'm told that w/ 6th ed having masses of Warriors are very good, and can kill anything w/ enough shots (yaaay Gauss). So here we go!
Overlord
w/ Warscythe, MSS, Semp. Weave, Res Orb + Phaeron
+ Harb. Eternity w/ Chronometron
@ Warriors (x20)
+ Ghost Ark
x2 Lord
w/ Warscythe, Semp. Weave, Res Orb
+ Harb. Destruction
@ Warriors (x20)
+ Ghost Ark
Destroyer Lord
+ x3 Heavy Destroyers
+ x2 Destroyers
Wraiths (x6)
w/ Whip Coils
Tomb Stalker
The Wraiths and Tomb Stalker all move the same, so they generally hang out. They Wraiths can kill and tarpit a bit, while the Stalker can Hit & Run out of it and go after something else.
The Destroyers work as Trouble Shooters, and now with Preferred Enemy working for Shooting attacks this makes them all the better.
Well, there ya go.
Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Re: Necron List Help: 6th Ed Update
Initial problem I see with this list is that Ghost Arks have a transport capacity of 10 models total. I love the wraiths and whips, they really do well. I would honestly suggest putting the Destroyer lord with them, as he'll confer his Preferred Enemy (Everything!) to that unit. I would also suggest dropping the heavy destroyers to just regular destroyers, unless you are really worried about facing a lot of vehicles. Still, more gauss shots will bring down a tank.

Re: Necron List Help: 6th Ed Update
What armies do you regularly play against? Or is this an all-comers list? I am not overly-familiar with all of the 6th rules but I would:
Drop Phaeron, drop warriors from both units so they can fit into the arks, make a 3rd unit of warriors-say 8 and add a StormTek, lord with MSS, Warscythe and maybe a Ghost Ark or put them into a Night Scythe.
I would also drop the Heavy Destroyers and try to get a D Lord to go with the Wraiths. D-Lords and Wraiths are just fantastic. If running 6 Wraiths I wouldnt give all of them whips, just 2 or 3 at the most.
Consider a couple flyers if you have them, a Night Scythe or 2 really causes alot of pyschological trouble for folks just starting this edition. It will most likely upset your opponents thinking and that means good things for you!
I also would try to find a way to get a Deathmark unit or even two with DespairTeks in them if possible-maybe even putting them into a nightscythe. Those things wreck havoc if used right. At 2.5k points you have a TON of options and Deathmarks are a strong choice imho.
I would drop the ChronoTek and maybe use a StormTek or shuffle points around- drop a few warriors here and there and try to get an Anni Barge or CCB.
With the bigger points there are alot of nice things you can throw into the army and have some really nice synergy. Like I said above I havent had alot of experience with 6th yet so take anything said with a grain of salt and if I have made a mistake or 2 concerning unit combos and whatnot I apologize. Best of luck to you!

Re: Necron List Help: 6th Ed Update
Okay, so I've gathered some information from a couple places...and this is the latest W.I.P for 6th Edition.
Primary Detachment ("Tomb Guardians")
Overlord
w/ Warscythe (or Voidblade?), Sem Weave, Res Orb
@
Warriors x10
+ Ghost Ark
Lord
w/ Warscythe (or Voidblade?), Sem Weave, Res Orb
@
Warriors x10
+ Ghost Ark
Aegis Defense Lines
+w/ Icarus Lascannon
[The idea is that this portion stays back, stays behind cover and pretty much never ever dies. The Res Orb + Repair Barge means a whole lot of not dead necrons. Can keep the lord up front and w/ Look Out Sir! the pawns can fall. The defenses + the Lascannon (of course, converted up to be all Necron) will make it all very scary.]
Destroyer Lord
w/ Warscythe, Sem Weav, Res Orb
@
Canoptek Wraiths (x6)
w/ Whip Coils (x5)
x2 Immortals (x10)
w/ Tesla Carbines
+ Night Scythe
x2 Canoptek Scarabs (10)
Canoptek Spyder (x2)
w/ Fab Claw & Gloom Prison
Tomb Stalker
Annihilation Barge (Gauss or Tesla)
[This Portion is to take point.
The immortals are objective hunters. Plus, Night Scythe's flying around aren't a bad thing!
The Destroyer Lord has joined the wraiths and will just wreck face. If needed he can peel off and join the Objective Holding immortals - that's why I kept the Res Orb on him.
And of course, that Tomb Stalker is going to be a NASTY thing.
Not to mention the Scarabs each getting their own Spyder. The spiders are given Fab Claws so that, if needed, they can help fix up any damaged vehicles - keeping those Arks up and running.]
