So, recently I wondered exactly how much damage a HBVG can _actually_ do.
Without further ado, the stats: All at Strength 5, Range 24", Armor Piercing
Without an engineer providing re-rolls and ballistic skill: Avg of 12.6 shots @ BS : 3 with an 8% chance of becoming disabled (destroyed or roll on the black powder miss-fire chart)
With an engineer providing re-rolls and ballistic skill: Avg of 16.3 shots @ BS : 4 with a 2.3% chance of miss-fire/destroyed.
Because the HBVG needs to roll to hit with all those shots now, as opposed to earlier editions where they auto-hit, the added BS of the Engineer is HUGE and the extra 3.7 shots doesn't hurt either
It is interesting to note that a HBVG with a naked Engineer costs almost exactly the same amount as 20 naked handgunners, yet puts out way more firepower. Also, the chance of a miss-fire with the HBVG is much lower than people think. With an engineer around, the HBVG will almost never miss-fire.

). Wondering if that would be a nice variation since they are far better at killing infantry hordes (or monstous cav/inf) and can still well kill the slightly harder stuff. Only worry is the lack of range. It is quite the points investment though. Would be glad for a couple of comments before buying/painting them
