I can't see how that would work as well as taking actual plague marines with demon allies. You can take nurgle marked havocs, plague marines, terminators, lords, sorcerers, even typhus since he is a beast in 6th.

The thing about epidemus is you ally him with CSM to get awesome shooting. Bolters that wound on a 2+ and allow no save. With allied orks you just get regular orks with no bonus, and are stuck with crappy demons who can't shoot.

Epidemus is a lot more exploitable with the plague marines imho.

it's stoppable if you target the grots or keep all your units away from them. People tend to not bother with them then, boom game over. It's an sickingly effective one trick pony.

Agreed that Epidemus is better with PM, but noxious touch only works on CC, so no bolters wounding on 2+. (Still ignores armour though).

As noted above, it's stoppable if your opponent is familiar with the rules. You can't use Aura if there are no actual enemy units in range. Being Allies of Convenience or Desperate Allies isn't enough.

I started using the tallyman in alliance with my daemons since the first day 6th was out, and have recently stopped using him. I have better luck with a GUO, a squad of plaguebearers, and DP from the daemons dex, with my main force of Plaguemarines headed up by a Sorceror and supported by a Defiler (now that it can fire all its weapons!). I'd bring him to larger games, no doubt, but under 2000 points, and especially against MeQ (which is mostly what I play against), it's just too hard to get the tally up to being useful before turn 4.

It isn't a shooting attack though, so it works against the grots by themselves.

It's a ranged weapon, says it right in the description. Ranged weapons perform shooting attacks.

In a thread discussing tactics using Epidemius, it benefits us all to point out when a supposed tactic doesn't work, no matter the reason.

This thread is discussing epidemus and plague marine tactics. No way you can take grots in that scenario. If you want to discuss epidemus and ork allies start another thread.
