Re boxing of 40k products next month?

Been taking to my local retailer and he stated "He's been having problems getting restocked with 40k products this last few weeks" he also said that this was not just him but other retailers too(including local GW stores). He seemed to think this may be due to 40k products getting reboxed starting next month to link up with the new starter set and reflect the new paint range(old paint range on current boxes). Anyone else come across any roumors of this?

makes sense. the DA are the new poster boys, yet all the boxes have UM on them. to keep things consistent changes the boxes makes sence. im sure when the idea od DA poster boys was mooted this very question was pondered. Now we have a an answer.

Far more likely to be down to the paint range change. The Ultras are unlikely to be going anywhere, given that C:SM is the book they represent...

i dont think they will put DA on general marine box covers. Tey arent in the Space Marine Codex. Why would they depict "models" from a different codex on the box?

Most Da will get will be some pictures of basic marine squads in Da colors on the website like BA did when they came out.

Reboxing is likely to update paints and maybe add the new warning label that has shown up in WD

You could put any chapter on some of the space marine boxes since many chapters can take them. E.g Rhinos / Landraiders. Every single space marine book can take them. So putting Dark angels on would make sense since there this editions poster boys apparently

If anyone recalls the little cards of colour lists that came out in GW stores when they released their latest paint range, supposedly these will accompany boxed sets now.

If Ultramarines remain on the front box covers then I bet Dark Angels will feature more prominently on the back and/or sides.

Wouldnt it be cool if they had diffrent codex chapters on each diffrent kind of unit? not that'll happen but i'd be cool.

They do need to upgrade the paints mentioned in the boxes anyway, and probably will also update the box graphic style a bit. Might include new pics of freshly painted models, as painting standards change over time. Dunno if DA will show up on Vanilla boxes, unless they're going to lose their own Codex.

Because we certainly need to change the Ultramarines to DA on the boxes of all those Eldar, Ork and Tau boxes... It said "40k" products, not "Space Marine" products, so the hypotheses about the paint range change (and maybe including the color list cards for the units) makes far more sense.

    EDIT:

But couldn't you say that certain Citadel products may be dangerous even if used correctly?

They certainly didn't have these warnings back in the old days, or they'd have been slapping them on the old metal dreads - they would have had to claim using one in a dreadsock was an incorrect usage.

This could actually be the core of the issue with reboxing. Surely it's advantageous to stress that Generic Marines are good as all flavours of Marines, not necessarily for anyone with more than a toe in the hobby, but certainly for the hapless loved-ones who get sent to buy them.

Even the idle purchaser would be more inclined to pick up a box of bog-standard marines if it has nice photos of their chosen Chapter on there.

Sometimes a model looks better in a different colour, this is largely down to personal taste and isn't it reasonably good sense to appeal to as wide a demographic as possible?

Very good points, all of those, Chem-Dog.

Of course, what they have potentially standing against them is that they make sense . . .

I like a joke as much as the next guy, but when almost 50% of the posts in a thread are spammy joke posts, things are looking bad for the lifespan of said thread.

Please try to stay on topic and if you are going to make a joke, please try to also contribute something constructive to the thread too
