The generic Space Marine boxes have always had multiple chapters on the packaging though? Including Blood Angels, Dark Angels etc.
Also Blood Angels were on the cover of 2nd edition and the featured chapter in the starter set but all generic boxes had Ultramarines
Black Templars were the cover boys of 3rd edition and we still had Crimson Fists on the Space Marine codex and Ultramarines on the unit boxes.
Dark Angels on the rulebook/ featured in the starter set does not mean they're going to be the new poster boys.
New paint range is definitely the reason.
since starting in August 2010 after 5 years without a game:

That, and then there's the problem that DA have their own codex and a some DA-specific models. It's likely that Ultramarines will stay as vanilla poster boys and show up on all the generic Marine boxes, and DA models are on Starter and on all DA-specific boxes, just to keep clear which box is for which codex.
any one heard any thing else on this? my local retailer is normally a good source for this sort of thing but I would have thought there would have been some outsinde colaboration by now. suppose we will see when the new WD comes out.
