If you want to keep the spirit of it, just use a Knight Banner Bearer as your token "BSB", he just doesn't provide the same bonus, obviously.

    But at those point levels, you'd only be able to pull off a good BSB and Heo with Skinks, Goblins, and maybe Skaven.
    IIRC Brets didn't need a BSB and TK could count their Heirophant as their general, but no army could have more than one Hero. There was also limits on the number of Special, Rare and Artillery units IIRC

    That sounds about right. It was back in the day when TKs had to have two characters - I believe them and Brets were the only armies to do so, and now its just the Bretonnians.

    @Lord Dan,

    Its impossible to make a legal 500 points list without the Lord with the Virtue of Empathy.
    Two naked paladins (of which one is the BSB) cost more then 125 points allowed. Even if you give one the Virtue of Empathy.
    Bretonnians ARE NOT a pure Knightly army.
    Half the army choices consist out of Peasants and Damsels.

    Re: 500 pts Bret question

    In my gaming group we have a house rule that the bretonnian BSB doesn't count within the maximum hero points at any point cost.

    As it should have been when they updated the rules to 8th.

    But yeah, using a bretonnian lord with virtue of empathy fits with a legal army.
