There was Lost Souls, many moons ago, but for the last X years the title I've mentioned in public has been Nightfall.

Hold on, I remembered this just now. Heroes of the Space Marines has a short story by the name of Nightfall, so can you still call it that even if another work has the same name?

There are no Dark Angels characters but they do some big stuff. They trash the Night Lords fleet, kill about a 1/3rd of the Legion at the battle that happened just before the story, and at the end capture Sevatar and the surviving Night Lords on the Invincible Reason. Though they didn't manage to get Curze.

The Dark Angels' honorable code of conduct? For interrogation purposes? To use as bait for a trap? Or as a bargaining chip? Why do people usually take prisoners?

Well mainly because they have no idea what the Night Lords fleet is doing, where Konrad Curze is and perhaps they believe that the Kyroptera they've captured will know something about Horus's wider plans.

That and they did kill a LOT of Night Lords in the battle, so they didn't take many prisoners. Only about 7-12.

Yup, there's a scene referring to Apothecaries from the 3rd & 10th companies helping Valzen to treat an injured Curze.

Which begs the question:

Sevatar requests his apothecary, Valzen, return to the Nightfall, trusting to Var Jahan's apothecaries to watch over Curze. It may be safe to assume Talos remains aboard Var Jahan's ship with Curze. As Curze then joins the Atramentar for the assault on the Invincible Reason with Var Jahan and all the Marines aboard the Excoriator... Talos sure has a fight ahead of him.

I'm probably reading into it way too much.


Probably should add I read this alongside listening to the audio book so I now have the voice of Sevatar almost permanently locked to a voice not unlike Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Curze's injuries didn't come from the fight in 'Savage Weapons' that story occurred several years before 'Prince of Crows' instead they were sustained during the Dark Angels ambush at the start of the story.

I don't understand why the Lion simply didn't kill Curze/chop off his head.

1. Because Curze is good enough or lucky enough to be able to block all beheading strikes. 2. The Night Lords managed to get Curze away before the Lion could kill him.

No he doesn't.

Talos would have been aboard the Covenant of Blood with the rest of 10th Company, which is one of the ships currently heading to rejoin the Warmaster's fleet.
