    Wood Elf Army Battalion

    Fantasy Army: BoC
Hey, so recently I purchased a Wood Elf Battalion and was wondering how best to use it. I put some thought in to it and read my Wood Elves armies book and anyway here is what i have come up with. (Please keep in mind i am new to warhammer and i havnt set anything up yet so any tips, suggestions or other ideas would be greatly appreciated!)

    (these - represent each unit)

    -6 Scouts

    -15 Glade Guard
    1 Glade Guard Musician
    1 Glade Guard Standard bearer
    1 Lords Bowman

    -5 Dryads
    1 Branch Nymph

    -5 Dryads
    1 Branch Nymph

    -5 Glade Riders
    1 Glade Rider Standard Bearer
    1 Glade Rider Musician
    1 Master Horseman

Anyway let me know what you think and any advice is helpful.

is this your whole army. because if it is you'll need a highborn/noble or a spellweaver :P

The minimum unit size for dryads is 8 models, so just merge the two units and don't bother taking the Branch Nymph, you're just burning valuable points.
In the unit of glade riders I would keep them down to just a musician, for rallying after fleeing.
Scouts are a wonderful unit for doing what wood elves do best, harassment. Just deploy them somewhere annoying and if you're lucky, you might get a war machine kill.
As said before in a legal army you will need a lord/hero but welcome to the ranks of the Asrai.
Just ask if you need any more help.

    Re: Wood Elf Army Battalion

iSo no standard bearer in glade riders either? I thought a banner could be of great use? And so instead of 2 units of dryads just have one unit of 12 with no branch nymphs? and if scouts are useful should i make more than 6 of them? and lastly I might not be able to purchase more WE soon as the nearest GW is 2 and a half hours away so i was mostly upgrading the GG and GR just because i wanted to be closer to 700 points army. Let me know what you think and i appreciate your help.

The scouts need to be no bigger than 6, any larger makes them a point sink and too many points to be a simple harassment unit.
You need to remember that when used correctly, Glade Guard are disputably the most useful unit in the codex, and therefore a large core of them is near essential in this edition.
And with the full command Glade Riders, it's your call, if you deem them effective enough to have full command then don't let me stop you, I just never found them effective enough to spend that many points on them. If you want to increase points, adding another Rider to the unit never hurt and almost costs as much as the full command anyway.
On a side note I'm pretty sure you can get Games Workshop Products delivered directly to your address, you should check it out.
These are just my opinion, if you would like any more help just let me know.

Well in all my lists I have a bunker of around 18 Glade Guard with full command, and add the Banner of eternal flame flaming arrows make a mockery of regenerating monsters such as the Hydra and Skaven Abominations.
The Glade Riders look very very nice with full command, and you're welcome.

Also what do you guys think of this revised list: (Only includes models from Wood Elf Battalion)

    -8 Glade Riders Full Command

-18 Glade Guard Full Command (possibility of banner of eternal flaming arrows once i find out more about it.)

    -6 Scouts

    -11 Dryads with Branch Nymph

You'll still need to convert up a character, either a scout kindred noble to carry the HoD Arrow, or mounted and impressive looking, again with the HoD. Make sure it looks impressive, and it'll be fine.

The banner is one of the generic items in the core book (the generic item list in the army book is outdated, the new core books has a lot more and better generic items), its really cheap and well worth it seeing as regeneration is a really popular way to enhance a units toughness.
