    Mini77's 40k Table and Terrain

This will be my third table and finally I feel like I knw what I'm doing enough to do a decent job.

The base is made of three pieces of 6mm MDF each measuring 4 foot by 2 foot. This way I could get all the materials in the car. It's mounted on to a frame made of 2 x 1 with cross braces every 8" for support meaning its quite strong but still light enough to move easily as it will sit upon the dining table when in use. The edging is 3" skirting board.

The screw holes were all filled and sanded before the whole thing was painted brown. You can't actually tell it is three pieces of MDF now either. I used leftover emulsion paint to paint the surface, and then drybrushed it with a cream colour, again emulsion but this time a cheap tester pot from Wilkinsons.

Finally it was covered with a mixture of two different static grasses, both Woodland Scenics but I forget which ones. I then sprayed the whole thing with watered down PVA glue to seal all the grass in.

    Now for terrain....

They look nice, but if I were you, I would make the edges slope down instead of going straight down, if you know what I mean... That way they merge better into the table. Other than that, a mighty fine start to your table. Keep up!

i'd agree with this, but sometimes it's nice to have clearly defined edges of the terrain. Looking good so far.

The straight edges are a better idea, I think: better keeps the adventurous dice on the table and gives a very clearly defined edge.

    Oh, and awesome table!

That is a well constructed gaming table with some nice terrain.

Looks mighty fine to me. The table itself looks and sounds well put together and the terrain looks great.
I use a chamfered edge on the terrain piece bases just to blend into the board a bit more, but either is fine.
