    Localicious Dwarf Mostly oop

    Hello everyone.
    Heres my Dwarf plog!

Background: I collected Dwarfs when I was a kid. I forgot all about the hobby for some years, but then one day I dug up some of my old stuff in the crates on the attic in my parents house - I found all my old Warhammer and felt like trying to do some painting again. I did, and I never rly got over it...

When I got back to my local store I realized that most of the models I was collecting back then had gone oop. Since I liked those Dwarfs so much I decided to buy them on Ebay, some at a time, and put together an army consisting of those old Dwarf models.
I can't rly work out which edition is it I'm talking about, but basically the models in this book:
The log will contain some new stuff and wip as well. Hope you'll enjoy it!

My Dwarf warriors regiment with room for a Rune Smith. Inspired by page 36 in the old army book.

    The Bfsp warriors.

My Rangers. I rly love these guys!

Let me know what you think about the shields. The last picture is a test shield I made to see how it looked with a golden symbol in the middle.

My Thunderers. These are rather old, and the paint job is not exactly up to my current standard, imo.

And my flame cannon. It's still somewhat wip. the guy whos supposed to handle the cannon doesn'y rly fit it. Atleast not the way I glued it together ... trying to figure out a solution to that problem ~~;; And the base as well, obv.

And here are two characters from AoW:

A few of my slayers. Ive got a lot, but I'll only put up my most recent, since the old ones are a bit out of date.
Also, I put up a pic to show you a few of my wonderful slayers which are yet to be painted.

Some random guys .. not much to them

    A few armyshots:

    That's all for now.
I have a lot of interesting old stuff waiting for painting, so stay tuned if you like this stuff.

    C&C is welcome.

    Have a wonderful day!

Great painting! And you got some really nice old models amongst those slayers!

Really like the banner for your miners! But the pun, but also the texture. Say how did you make it? Is it made by cloth?

    Re: Localicious Dwarf Mostly oop

Thanks guys. Glad you like them!

For the banner I took an old Tshirt and cut out a piece a bit larger than what I wanted. Then soaked it in pva glue and waited for it to dry.. and then I just cut a piece the size I wanted.
I guess you could prolly just cut the wanted piece to begin with, but I liked that I had some to work with, and I could cut out a piece which had dried in a way that made it look like it was affected by the wind, if you know what I mean...
Also I left a few "lines" in the top to wrap around the top branch. And then I used some green stuff to create the "wave-ish" effect in the top.

    Edit:

Nice army. I really like the colour associations you used on your regiments, like blue and red, or green and white.
It's great to see some old oop model too, they have much more character than the bland plastic models. The AoW models are a good addition as well, it would have been a shame not to have included them in your army.

The painting is just top notch everywhere and thanks for the tee-shirt/banner tip, it seems really easy to do. Keep it up !

Gotta give that tee-shirt tip a try.
And the crystals on the miners unit?

@ azhagmorglum Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like the colors. I decided some time ago to try out some different color schemes rather than making a uniform army. I do think those armies are great (and some times greatest), but I just felt like trying out some different things

@ Willman The crystals. It's pretty much just to go with a base color, and add white and dry brush lighter and lighter. The crystal on the generals base as an ex: Snot green. A little badab black. And then just Snot green + white until you go white alone on the sharpest areas

Good looking minis. The older dwarfs are so much better than the current ones. Look forward to seeing more.

Gorgeous painting as always from you loca

I really like the green and white combo, you don't see that on dwarfs very often but it works very well!

And that golden symbol on the shield is great, fits very well in my opinion.

Nice to see some OOP dwarfs

    Re: Localicious Dwarf Mostly oop

Thanks a lot for the kinds words guys. Means a lot

@Toshiro. Tyvm I never rly thought I'd go for the green/white color scheme (Karak-Hirn I believe it's called in the book) , but I wanted them to look like those in the old army book. Glad it turned out alright.
I'm glad you like the shield as well! I haven't decided if I want to add the symbol to the rest of the shields. On one hand the golden color goes well with the green/white , but I think the bare green/white shields look good as well.. I'm a bit afraid they'll look too “packed” if all the guys have the symbol We'll see what happens

I think I will show you guys what I'm working on atm ..
Just finished the carriers of the old Throne of Power.

They were not a treat to paint to be honest.. As much as I love these old minis, I've got to admit the amount of detail is rather low (their faces in particular .. the metal is kind of messy there, and the eyes are almost impossible to make a good job of)
I like the guy to the right the best. His face was great to paint, and I think I hit the beard color pretty good. A color inspired btw by the hair of Ricks High Elfs (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...66#post6314366)

The picture quality is terrible.. I don't always have access to the cam I used for the prior pics , but I thought it would be alright for a WIP picture.

I haven't decided on what the base should be like yet ... Ideas are very welcome I've made a lot of compliments on the basing I've seen around this forum - you guys are rly good at that .. Mb it's time I try something more than just frozen ground with a little dead grass and snow

    Very nice dwarves!

I quite like the blue-red scheme you have added to the standard bearer.

    Great work!

Edit: Faces are also great, I find this very hard to do.
