    WHFB Doubles Nov 2012

The Reapers have tickets for four teams this time around.

    Anyone else going?
Angrier than a hatful of hornets,
Crazier than a crack head cat,
Here to make amusing puppets from your skin,
And sticky treats from your vital organs.

Myself and 3 mates will be going , Me and my teammate are regular tournament goers - i was at the last throne of skulls dressed as a pirate for my Zombie pirate themed army - however nothing so flash this time i think!!!

Not sure what we are bringing - We wanted to bring Skaven and although the rules pack doesnt mention using the Alies rules - i rang the events team an he confirmed that they will be :s

Does anyone know popular builds that people use? whats popular at the 1000/1000 pts limit

Still playing around with lists at the moment but we have a general idea of what we're going with.

    Couple of questions:
Is it a free for all on pairings or is it 'legal allies' only? Will we see High and Dark Elves together for example?
Battle Standards; if take by one person, can the other one use it for their Ld tests?

It uses the full alliance rules from the rulebook.

I always find this format a bit more difficult to understand, lets face it most armies are almost taken out of the deathstar list builds

    Chaos, Lizards and High elves
    ect ect
Makes the super cheap armies really good - O&G for example.

Skaven struggle due to allies rules

Not sure what works well in conjunction, but sometimes a feel a dual list of the same race has better synergy

My last attendance was my Tzeentch daemons allied with Tzeentch warriors - the synergy is extremely effective.

Ogres make good allies because they don't cause panic in 'friendly' units.

    Thanks!

Something fairly useful that could have gone in the rules!

    ar

Thats a good point - however doesnt it also mean that if you mix ogres with, say Empire then you half your power dice regardless which side the wizards may be? ( i havent got my rule book to hand nor can remember the exact rules) as they are a neutral army

It's only the desperate that do that. What people forget is that even friendly forces have to split their dice at the start of the magic phase, they can just pick how it's done. We worked round it by making one army solely responsible for spellslinging.

    Re: WHFB Doubles Nov 2012

Very true about allies being in the rulebook, its just me reading the doubles rules pack and it doesn't say the allies rules being used so I must have selectively read it as something different; like I said its our first time, and we've never used the ally rules in any games we've played.

You say that Ogres don't cause panic in 'friendly' units, I've tried to find how this comes to be but can't, could you point me in the right direction?

Ogres are always suspicious allies (even with other ogres), ditto tomb kings. They're basic fantasy rules, so I think they assume people will clock that.

I've got the rulebook in front of me and it says Suspicious allies DO cause panic tests in allies...

An armour and buffs combo is nasty. Heavy firepower and combat. basically, synergy can be nasty.

Watch out for the Orcs and Gobbos

4 manglers + 2 Doom Divers and 12 Bolt throwers can be death
Combined with 2 Big Un savage orc mobs - its a hard army to cope with
