If you stopped buying, what was your last purchase?

    Good evening Warseers,

I think there are enough threads debating the reduction/increases in sales, asking for reasons why you buy less or how many unpainted models you have left... so my question is: If you stopped buying (or if you're about to stop), what was your last purchase? Is there maybe a story connected to it, or something you really wanted before hitting the brake?

I'll start: I stopped buying more stuff at least until my Ogres are finished (around 20 models to go, at my speed: roughly a year) but my last purchase was a "purchase of heart": 20 metal Black Orcs. I wanted these since they were released for Storm of Chaos (if memory serves me right) but back then they were too expensive for me to even consider buying. Now I was able to buy some plastic and said 20 metal Black Orcs (Great weapons and two hand weapons mixed!) to bump my Black Orc count to 70! Just looking at them puts a grin on my face and I find them to be a worthy last purchase!

So, do you have any stories to share? (Or just want to say something?)
Look upon us and Despair, for we are the End, the Decay of all things, the horror of rot and the blessing of plague.

For new GW models probably the 8th Ed starter set at 20% off (£48 at the time I think), and the overall effect of even that will be reduced by selling the HEs to a mate for £30-35. Primarily got it for the cheap rules and beautiful skaven models. For everything else and OOP GW Epic stuff, it never ends..

The last GW product I bought was a can of spray primer. It was a support your FLGS buy.

The last GW mini I bought was a Bretonnian Questing Knight. I'd recently picked up the new Bretonnian army deal and needed a sixth knight for the unit. Sonn after, I had life happen and didn't paint or play for almost a year. When looked to get back into the game, my local group had folded and the prices made me sick. I sold off my GW minis and went off to greener pastures.

I just bought two paint pots last week.

Model-wise...I have not ordered a whole kit in I am not sure how long. I got a bunch of 40K/Fantasy bits to kit bash my Night Lords together from Warstore and just today ordered some Black Reach Nobs/Terminators (off ebay) to kitbash into Mega Armoured Nobs (the nobs and Termies cost me about as much as ONE Finecast MAN from GW).

I bought 2 Space Wolves battleforces and 3 WG Terminator boxes when the codex released. Before that I'd bought 2 sets of Black Reach when those were released. And I might buy a starter now when it's going to be released. So in a way I haven't stopped, I suppose, but it's periodical and few and far between.

I bought an Ogre battalion and some bitz last year and then I lost all interest in 8th ed. Nothing of that has been assembled and my other Ogre purchases, which would have brought the army up to 8th ed standards, never happened.
We'll see with 9th ed in a couple of years.

I won't count a couple of army books because I do buy those for my existing armies, so that I can keep playing. Even there, I bought the ogre kingdoms book and did not bother with the empire one because the price tag just always puts me off. Anyhow, those aside, my last purchase model wise was a crapload of Grey Knight paladins from Maelstrom games and a bunch of body and leg sprues from hoard o' bitz to use the bitz in the set to make more paladins to finish my Draigowing. I wanted to get into 40k, and maelstrom had a huge sale right before the embargo hit, as a customer appreciation thing for their loyal overseas customers. Since them, no GW purchases, but I keep playing with the stuff I already have. This is hindered in Fantasy by a dying player base in Canada, almost certainly based on price. I still buy stuff from maelstrom though for my hordes and warmachine armies-- they've got my loyalty for being a great retailer. Oh, and they still have sales from time to time.

Way too much. Rulebook, FW tank, Contemptor arm, 20 GK paladins, An entire army of chaos in nautical/mutant style. Bitz and pieces from 4 different web sites and then I bought some colours.

Two Land Raiders and a Vindicator, to be turned into a Stormlord and a Repressor. This was back before the embargo, and back when I thought GW wasn't going to screw over the Sisters again.

My last purchase was a box of warriors from the dead from LOTR to use as ghosts in my VC army before that box got repackaged. After that I bought the 25th 40k birthday marine to give FC a chance (well actually I gave FC 8 chances to get a halfway acceptable miniature).

I bought some collectors stuff, including two collectors rulebooks - but I'll sell those.
I bought lots during the last 2 years, but stopped for half a year as I went away for a bit. Won't really get into building much I am afraid, just converting and painting. I am not a huge fan of the gaming aspect as you can probably tell...

Box of bloodletters. Cool miniatures to paint that see use in small press/free skirmish games.
Remember to take the time to enjoy your hobby. If GW isn't doing it anymore for you, look elsewhere. There are lots of great miniature games out there now.

The last thing I purchased was an Ork bomber just so I could paint it. Always liked the FW model and nearly bought one with my xmas bonus last year, glad I never now!

My last purchase was the plastic Dark Elf Sorceress when it came out, but before that was probably a Dark Elf battalion on eBay a few years ago. That being said I am currently back on eBay as I type looking at plastic screamers and flamers. All my moral righteousness about GW pricing and the embargo died when I saw those models.

    I am ashamed.

Re: If you stopped buying, what was your last purchase?

A grey knight dreadnight and codex last year were my last two purchases.

I used to buy around one new unit a month prior to this. Now, the most they're likely to get from me is maybe one unit every two years (if I like the models, purely to paint them as I no longer play 40k).

besides the odd pot of paint, my last purchase was "the chase" when that came out...must be a couple of years ago now.
