Which one is the best Leman Russ?

I haven't painted my first russ yet. But when I do I think it'll be an eradicator or a punisher, simply cause I think they look cool. But if you put that aside, which one is the best? I think the standard one still seems competitive. But then again, I haven't even played 6th yet.

Ever since 5th I havent left home without my two basic Leman Russ Battle Tanks with hull lascannons. Always had good anti infantry and ok anti tank. With the new rules for blasts vs vehicles in 6th they have only gotten better vs tanks, and make a wreck out of light vehicle parking lots like DE, Guard or rhino rush. Now though I have started using the demolisher more too, S10 and AP2 makes it a good tank cracker, even against AV 14, and with the boost termi's got, having the capability to take out a large squad of terminators with a singel shot is a bonus too. Other wise never messed with the other variants.

In general? Probably the basic Leman Russ, it's the most flexible, it can engage any target with some degree of success, and won't cost an absurd number of points. The Executioner is nice, but expensive, the Demolisher is a bit more than the LRBT with a shorter range but a meaner blast.

The Exterminator has a place in an armored battlegroup list, but otherwise most of the variants aren't particularly spectacular.

The Executioner is too expensive to be worth taking 9 times out of 10. Even against terminator heavy armies I think the Demolisher is still a better tank as it's considerably cheaper and is fairly effective against tanks if their are no infantry targets to shoot at. That said, unless I expect to face a lot of termies I usually stick with the basic Russ with either hull Lascannon and either no sponsons or 3 HBs.

The basic Leman Russ has always been a really solid tank. And very very scary to us marine players.

i've found that your standard leman russ battle tank is the way to go. the main cannon on it just messes up hordes as well as elite infantry and honestly it has a decent chance to damage most armour. that and im biased based on the look of it. it just looks to be the most mean agrssive killing machine possible.

There is always chem dog if you want to kill ap2. Its fast attack and it has ap2 or ap1 template i think

LRBT and executioner are great, but I really love the exterminator. Lots of twin-linked shots overcome that mediocre BS... they make really great command vehicles in an Armoured Battlegroup list too.

Ap 2 but you have to get close to use it which means melta range. Also the basic leman Russ has 72" range which means there is probably nothing put of your range ever lol . Actually I have been using a collossus recently and with the increase in terrain overall it has been pretty darn useful in alot of situations, especially wiping out scoring squads hiding out of line of site on an objective

Unfortunately they're not that great, you'd get about 15 hits, and against marines you'd get 10 wounds and probably 3 ish dead.

The battle tank is probably best value, but I do love my demolisher! Everythings afraid of strength 10!

I normally go for 2 normal battle tanks and 2 demolishers when I write a list.

An executioner always had a place in my hart, 5 templates of death. If you can bubble wrap it with fleshbags so it shoots nearly all game it will gets its points back.

But the standard russ is the best all rounder in the current 6th I guess.

The LR Battle Tank, Demolisher and Executioner are the best of the options. None of them have ever failed me on the table, plus my Executioner tends to take out far more than it's points value of the opponents forces before it is itself destroyed (in 1 game it took out well over 1000 points of a opponents 2000 point list). The Exec. is expensive (even moreso if you add plasma sponsons like I tend to), but can rip through infantry and lighter armour like no tomorrow. The Demolisher lacks range, but meaning that it has to get close, it can take multi-meltas. Sadly this means you'll also bein melta range yourself, but hopefully killing those threats before they can kill you. The LRBT is just a great all rounder, capable of anti-armour and anti-nfantry roles or both at the same time. It is also very cheap in points for what it does.

Personally it would be the Battle Tank as first, the Executioner as second, and oddly, the Punisher as third (especially with pask). If you take an allied psyker with divination, Presicence is a sick buff when cast on squadrons. I say that the Pask Punisher may be worth its weight on account of the new glance rules and hull points.

The standard Battle tank is imho the best aswell, with the demolisher as a good second. The demolisher is more close ranged but I find it works very well when supported by 2 normal battle tanks. The punisher is probably one of the worst variants but it just looks so damn good, and I have yet to try it but it might be good against light flyers due to rate of fire if you don't have any hydra's.

I opt for the basic russ along the demolisher. The basic russ is very flexible in it's performance even though I mainly see it as the anti-infantry tank. The demolisher is also very flexible but more effectiv against tough targets but at the expense of it's range. A pretty decent trade-off imo.

The punisher is generally not that good except against single target units or monsters with Pask in it. But that doesn't stop med from more often then not playing with a kitted 260p punisher with Pask in it ^^
He sure loves to see monstrous creatures, because it's often enough with one mean look from him to eradicate them from the table.

I like the eradicator. But then again there are a lot of ork player locally so i'm a tad biased
