    Necron Night Scythe

    Multipart question...

I zoomed a Doom Scythe (transporting 5 Warriors) in on turn 2 moving it about 12 inches away from 2 Rhinos with Lascannons and twin linked plasmas. I "Wreck" one Rhino with the Telsa Destructor Cannon. The other Rhino was shaken and stunned the previous turn so it can only snap shoot. He then rolls to hit with the Lascannon and the twin linked plasma guns. He misses with the Lascannon but hits with the plasma penetrating it and the DS explodes. Not good. Only after did I remember the DS had a Jink save. Crap Anyway, the vehicle fragments rain down on the battlefield 2D6 scatter and he takes a couple strength 6 hits.

    Two questions:
    • Does the DS stay on the battlefield as a wrecked vehicle or is it removed? I don't see rules for this on page 81 of the BRB
    • What happens to the Warriors as they are not really "inside" the DS? Do they deepstrike elsewhere?

Regarding the warriors: the Night Scythe rules tell you what happens to them. I'm not sure where the ambiguity is supposed to be?

As for the damage result, the rules also clearly state what you are supposed to do with the Flyer. It's the sentence directly after the one that tells you the strength of the hits from the wreckage.

The intent of the rule is that the Necron unit goes back in reserves with no damage taken.
RAW is currently that they take the damage before going back to reserves.

GW has no clue how to write rules the way they intend them to work.

The damage happens before the unit is placed/disembarked.
They take the damage and any that survive are put into reserve.

But the Night Scythe rule says they are not allowed to disembark, surely they would not take any damage that would be caused by disembarking?

Disembarking doesn't cause the damage, the vehicle exploding causes the damage.

This is a strict RAW versus RAI argument. Pick a side and settle in, because until we get a FAQ there won't be a resolution.

Technicially, the models transported by the Scythe is not "embarked" upon it, but that's more fluff/RAI rather than RAW.

I thought the transported models in a scythe rule was covered in a WD, maybe issue 388 or issue 389?
