There are a lot of army building tips there, but here are a couple of general tips that I think are important IMHO:
1-Use your might wisely, the best use of might is for heroic moves, followed by heroic fight. Using might to kill a model in most cases is not the best use.
2-Remember the goal/winning conditions of the scenario, do not get distracted by just killing models.
3-Think ahead, there will be points in the game where you really need to move first, if you do not get priority and you need to go first call heroic moves.
4-look at your opponents list to determine it's strength and weakness. i.e. if they have a lot of high fight models but few bows, shoot as long as possible before combat.
5-a trapped model is, in most cases a dead model. Trap when you can, this is very important when picking the order of fights. If you have priority pick the fights that give the best chance of killing first, this is an often overlooked part of the game by novices. Do not let your opponent goad you into any order but the order you choose.
6-Keep your heroes spread throughout your army, this will give you "stand fasts" that will save you by keeping models on the table when you reach the break point (50%).
7-if you have extra points left over and you can, give spears to your bowman or shields to spearmen ( not every unit can be equipped this way so be careful ), a multi use model is a more useful model.
8-keep track of your might will and fate, as well as your opponents. Bring paper and use it.
9-The more dice you have in a fight, the more likely you are to win the fight. This seems like a no brainer, but sometimes choosing to shield will save the model and hold up your opponent.
10-I think the best use of magic in most cases is to neutralize your opponents heroes. i.e. compel to move them out of position, immobilize, etc.
The one ring is also good.
You can still post up lists on here, I've gotten good advice from here
Good luck with your tournament!
