    Kitbash/Conversion models

    Hello,
I was gone from the hobby for 6 months now, as I was abroad. Being back, my priorities have changes - I won't get into gaming much, but rather converting and painting (I might use the models in friendly games - if he'd allow it, that is. I also came up with some rules for the miniatures and while they aren't finished or perfect, I hope I can (at least kind of) stick to them.
The "previews" are made in paint, that's why they all look a bit rough. As soon as I found a place to stay in and sorted college stuff, I will start collecting bits and try to finish as many of these as I can.

So here we go (I hope this is large enough to see):

    1) Lord Commissar
Modelling: I'll cut off the head of an IG lord commissar and off the inquisitor with inferno pistol and power sword (leaving the scarf/high collar), putting the commissar head on the Inquisitor. Then the hand with the sword in it and the other one with the inferno pistol in it is cut off and replaced my Forgeworlds Death Korps of Krieg Plasma pistols.
Rules wise: Very straight forward, just a commissar with two plasma pistols and a camo cloak. the special thing would be a rule called "quick private - hold this", that lets him use the look out, sir! rule when the pistols get hot. If you really want to get special you could let him use the pistols in CC, but then we'd be talking about a what - 150+points model?

    2) Librarian
Modelling: Forgeworlds Sevrin Loth (or however he's called) with the sword of an emperors champion and the book of a librarian. very straight forward.
Rules wise: Very straight forward as well, just a librarian who is mastery level 2 and can roll twice on all tables except biomancy. The special thing about him is that he can, when the psychic powers are "selected" reroll the dice (after they have been chosen. I.e. he gets power one and two and doesn't like it, he can roll BOTH dice again, but not only one of them). ...thats because he has two books lol =D

    3) Techmarine (or rather "Technomancer")
Modelling: Forgeworlds Valthex with Sevrin Loths left arm and the Powerfist from the FW space marine upgrade set. He will get the backpack from the devastator it with the targeter with the mutated arm from the chaos terminators instead of one of the vents.
Rules wise: As I hinted with "Technomancer", he is actually a mix between a Techmarine and a Librarian. I am thinking about making him a special character, calling him Psyron (<= Psychic/Iron).
He is mastery level 2 and would be similar to the Necron character that can control vehicles. His powerfist is also a force weapon and he can take a psychic test to increase the initiative of the powerfist by D3. He can also get D3 S8 I1 attacks from "psychic Servoarms" as a psychic power. Another power is that he can shoot a TL plasma cannon and flamer shot. (basically a psychic servo harness)

    4) Captain (maybe chapter master):
Modelling: Legs from Forgeworlds commander culln (torso sawed off), the back torso of a chaos terminator lord and his cape, the front is the bit from a venerable dreadnought. The iron halo from a space marine captain and the head from FW MKIII power armor. The arms are cullns, the right arm modified with lugft hurons lightning claw and the right hand changed to the storm shield of the tartaros terminator upgrade pack. the Shoulder pads also come from the tartaros pattern terminators. He will also get an auxiliary grenade launcher on his right shoulder, taken from the space marine scouts kit I think.
Rules wise: Basically a captain or maybe a chapter master with terminator armour, iron halo, storm shield and a lightning claw that can also be used as a powerfist (he can retract those blades) and an auxiliary grenade launcher. He can also attack with his storm shield, which is a concussive weapon.

    5) Deathstrike Missile Launcher:

Modelling: The games workshop Manticore tank with two deathstrike missiles rather than the 4 small missiles. In the front is a tank commander made from FW tank commander and the clenched walking stick from the IG command squad. It'll also get camo netting.
rules wise: A "normal" Deathstrike missile launcher with camo netting, except it's twin linked (so you can also re-roll the "launch in 5 minutes and counting"!).

    6) Dreadnought:
Modelling: This will be contemptor dreadnought lower body on an Mark IV iron clad dreadnought body that has the Ashmantle venerable dreadnought engine and the dreadfire close combat arms (left and right).
Rules wise: Basically a venerable Iron clad dreadnought with two dreadnought CCW with built in heavy flamers.

    7) Storm Raider:
Modelling: This will be big. the sides/tracks of a land raider with the middle part of a storm raven with the chapterhouse extension. the top turret will get the assault cannons, the front a twin linked multimelta and the sponson will be converted executioner plasma cannons from the leman russ kit. I will glue the turbine bits sawn off from the front of the storm raven to the sides of the land raider bits. It will also get extra armor from FW.
Rules wise: The model will have deep strike (it is dropped from low orbit and slows the descent with the turbines at the front and back). It has an assault ramp (only the front ramp counts, not the rear and side access points) and a transport capacity of 12, with access points at the rear, sides and front. The turret's twin linked assault cannon has the skyfire and interceptor USR. It has the ceramite plating of the Storm Raven and armor F14 S14 R12. Has sponson mounted executioner plasma cannons and power of the machine spirit.Models within 2" of the rear and/or the side access point can assault "through" the tank if it is empty, if all the models wouldn't take more transport capacity than the tank has. Then the 2" to the ramp and the tank itself does not count towards their assault distance.

    8) Storm Stalker:
Modelling: A Storm Talon with legs made from the front limbs of a chaos defiler and the feet from a dreadknight. But other than usual, the legs attach to where the turbines would be and have the ball joint on top, i.e. the other way round as it's "usually" done now. It keeps the TL assault cannon and gets a missile launcher like the normal storm talon. I still have to decide about the rear of it.
Rules wise: A walker with AV between a Dreadnought and a Sentinel. Has got stealth, scout/infiltrator and move through cover (not sure if all walkers have that anyway). Missile Launcher fires frag krak and flak missiles. It can go into anti air stance, choosing at the start of the game turn. Gets the shrouded special rule (additionally to stealth), and skyfire (NOT interceptor), but can't move this turn. Can come in squadrons of up to 3.
EDIT: I just had a revelation this morning! I was always trying to think of some close-combat version of this - and now I know: The Raptor.
It's the same vehicle, except no guns at all. instead it gets the smaller legs of a defiler as arms and one of the two big claws from the big arms as the middle "toe", replacing the dreadknights one. Rules-wise this means that it gets 4 attacks, if it charges 2 of them will be double strength and double Initiative (I don't have characteristic values yet, but it won't be too far off a dreadnought I think)

    9) Scorpion (provisional name):
Modelling: A Vindicator with hurricane sponsons from the storm raven kit and the magna grapple front from a furioso dreadnought instead of the demolisher cannon. Also has extra armour from forge world.
Rules wise: Vindicator AV, except +1 on the sides, hurricane Bolter sponsons, magna grapple.
I still have to find a fitting name.

    10) Reaver titan conversion (will probably never be built and thus isn't shown):
I am not going to go big into this one. I would like to replace the torso of a reaver titan by a platform with some kind of seat/"throne" on it with a techpriest or techmarine or librarian on it, controlling the thing. 2 close combat weapons and the shoulders converted with one vortex missile on one shoulder and a platform for a techpriest with gun servitors on the other one.

    Also not shown:
I want to see how Gargoyles will look with scything talons and hormagaunts with fleshborers...

    Re: Kitbash/Conversion models

The Storm Raider and Storm Stalker look like a lot of fun, and very cool if you can make them work.

The Lord Commissar may be tricky to pull off without lots of GS re-sculpting. Not sure if the CM Captain built from the Ven Dread sarcophagus will work out, but I'll be interested to see how the attempt pans out!

    Re: Kitbash/Conversion models

Well I am afraid that Storm Stalker's legs will be too small (just got a chance to properly compare sizes)...

The Lord commissar shouldn't be too bad. I can leave the inquisitors scarf and file the commissars head to fit more or less exactly, filling any gaps with liquid green stuff. For the hands it's very straight forward as well as I only replace the hands (perhaps some pinning involved, but no rocket science).

As for the Captain - I saw something like that (using the other sarcophagus from the ven. dread box) on the GW website. It will need some greenstuffing to make the back of the torso a bit broader (and/or some filing on the sarcophagus bit) to make them match up...
