    Spirit Stones in 6th ed.

Warp Charges: A psyker model gets a number of Warp Charges equal to it's Mastery Level.

According to the GW official Eldar FAQ, Farseers are Mastery Level 1

Ergo, Farseers get one Warp Charge per player turn.

Spirit Stones states that a Farseer with them can use two psychic powers per turn.

No where in the FAQ does it state that Spirit Stones increases mastery level or grants more Warp Charges.

So, at current it seems like spirit stones basically serve no function (A common occurrence when an edition changes.) So, while it may give the Farseer the ability to cast more than one psychic power, there's only one Warp Charge in the proverbial tank to fuel them, so it's moot. (Unless there's some 0 Warp Charge psychic powers out there.)

So, are spirit stones currently non-functional on anyone but Eldrad (Who has the Mastery Level to pull it off)? The Eldar certainly wouldn't be the first codex to suffer from an edition change, but I am curious.

Page 66: paraphrased it says mastery level is equal to the number of powers you can cast with a model. A farseer with spirit stones is mastery level 2.

Page 66 of the BRB under Establishing Mastery Level, covers this exact situation with a backwards compatibility clause. Farseers with Stones are Mastery 2.

And things that require tactics are BAD. The less tactics involved, the better, and it means less things can go wrong.

Careful how you interpret this. As it can affect Deny the Witch rolls. A Farseer is only considered level 1 to stop other psychic powers.

I would interpret this as the spirit stone grants the Farseer an additional psychic power and 1 warp charge point, not necessarily an additional mastery level.

Granted the rules are not crystal clear on this issue.

Actually, they are. The psychic powers section of the rules specifically calls out options that "allow you to cast an extra power" or similar as being synonymous with gaining a Mastery Level. it's the last sentence of he paragraph directly following the "establishing mastery level" heading on p.66.
