That captain model is fantastic, the green shield and sword really stand out without completely overpowering the red of the model. The Talons extended tail is also a very good addition, it's stumpyness is one of things I hate about that model.

I love the captain. Is that a howling banshee sword?

    Thanks for the compliments guys.

The sword is a marine arm and hilt with the blade taken out. The blade is just a strip of plasticard that I bent and shaved down one edge.

Small update on the scorpion, I've been preparing all the bits and have started assembly. I also have a 9.5" round wooden chopping board that I'm going to use as a base for it. I'm going to pin all the legs for strength, which is a pain but I don't want it falling apart when I use it.

    Cheers all.

The legs are on and it seems quite sturdy. Not entirely sure how I'm gonna pose the claws yet. But after that and a little tidying up of mould lines I'd missed it'll be time to start painting.

The scorpion is now ready for Undercoating, not Really anything more to show tho as I'm leaving it in a few bits for painting.

Currently I'm working on the base, which will be smashed slabs and rubble mainly, plus skulls of course!

Just a little quick update to show I am still working on the beasty. It's coming along nicely now, such a large area to paint!

Plus the base here, not sure if you can really make it out in this pic.

    Cheers

Going to do any free hand or other detailing on the big flat surfaces?

    Hi,

@son of lorgar, I'm gonna do something but I'm not entirely sure yet what I'm doing. It'll probably be either the Smokey mottled pattern like the forgeworld one or maybe a cracked lava kinda pattern.

I'd welcome others input on that to be honest.

Now for pics, I've started reblacking the pipes in the body, just the arms and legs to finish, and I've nearly done his base now.

    Comments always appreciated,

    Cheers

Really nice work! And I will probably steal some designs from the Stormtalon you converted, I have thought for a long time how to make that bubble into more of an aerial fighter... Well done!

Cheers armfelt, there's nothing more gratifying than knowing that someone like something you've done enough to do the same themselves.

Small update on the scorpion. The shading and everything has been finished on the red plates and most of the metal has been highlighted. Got some brass and the bodies tangled in the cables to do next, then I think it'll be on to the patterns on the armour plates.

    Comments always appreciated.

    Scorpion update!

I've finished the metal parts including adding some actual brass to the scorpion. The bodies in the workings are just about done I think and I've had a first go at the magma scale pattern that I've totally copied from magmatrax (which is one of the best models I've ever seen, check it out if you've never seen it! http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/i...owtopic=105449)

The scales didn't take too long bit if I'm gonna do than on every playe it might take a while! Lol

The middle row of armour plates is done. Most of the other bits are smaller so I should be able to get through them a little quicker than these. The largest couple of plates here took me nearly half hour each!

    Comments please? Anyone?

That is amazing. I think that this may be the best Brass Scorpion I've seen. I love the pattern you've done so far, it puts FW's one to shame in my opinion. I can imagine that it takes a very steady hand to achieve this effect but it is certainly worth it.

Wow dude thats awesome. It's going to look so cool finished. Not that I ever paint to that standard but I think the edging of the plate where the red mets the metal should be a bit darker. Ill have to see it in person tho. I'm surprised you haven't had more comments given it is clear ******* awesomeness.
