    Ship Class Variants

This may be a stupid question, so feel free to trout-slap me...

Where a type of ship has a variation, can you only take one of those named ship variants?

For example, the Tyrant-class Cruiser can take longer ranged Weapon Batteries at an additional +10 points for the Zealous and Dominion. Therefore, can I only take two Tyrants with these upgrades (named Zealous & Dominion), or can I take as many as I want, as long as I pay the additional cost?

    Cheers.

    Hey Fracas,

iirc it has always been as many as you want.

And certainly since Armada. In Armada the great example was given that more Mars class cruisers were being fitted with the targetting matrix.

And in the large campaign of GW it was made clear Chaos build more Acherons etc.

    Re: Ship Class Variants

Essentially the first rulebook lists mentions it that you can buy a ship with a certain name that has certain upgrades. Essentially the ship was a unique ship.

It does make a lot of the Admech upgrade options seem unneccesary, as the IN have these options regardless.

IN only have the upgrades on limited ships tho (only Tyrants can take plasma boosted batteries) or by reciving an upgrade during a campaign (not as easy as it sounds sometimes).

Yeah, the targetting matrix is Mars only in addition to Andrew.

AdMech has more options per ship.
