You're aware of the concept of a dual kit, right? The Warp Stalkers are a new unit that can be built with the same box as the furies, just like the Necron Immortals/Deathmarks box - it doesn't mean Immortals are just another name for Deathmarks

Yes I am aware of it I was just too eager of the release of potential new Greater Daemons models so I didn't consider it. I do sincerly hope the GD models are good BAD ASS looking. They will most likely be expensive as hell.

Yes, you're only getting 3 new kits AFTER Jue 2013. Codex:CSM is supposed to be before that. It's not like this exact kind of complaint is roughly up every other page and then explained again and again.

I think that list is a bit excessive, but going back to the days of multiple lists in one codex (and I mean the heady days of 2nd ed tyranids, not the campaign books of third) would be great, and was the first thing I thought of when the idea of rolling black templars into C:SM came to mind. Then the Imperial and Crimson Fists characters could likewise unlock emperor's champion selection from the BT list. But I could only see BT getting their own list - everybody else is too close to Codex Astartes for that.

Unless they decide to pull a fast one and give some chapters like Salamanders and Iron Hands new units. But the leaked list under discussion does not seem to support that.

So far, all Marine codexes have had new takes on how to implement chapters that are almost-Codex. No doubt this one will have a new one as well. Who knows, with it being a year and a half away (approximately, maybe), the designers might not even have settled on the exact way of handling it.

However, I expect the order of 40k releases to stay the same.

No offence intended (I really stress that point, I'm not trying to pick a fight here), but Stickmonkey confirming it doesn't lend it special credibility. That isn't meant as an insult nor a suggestion of ill intent/malice on his part, it's purely a statement of statistical reasoning based on previous posts/rumours.

That said, it's a lot of detail to go to for a hoax, and personally I'm really hoping it -is- accurate. I guess we'll just have to hang onto it and wait and see

(Again, because I fear some people will take this the wrong way: I am not suggesting Stickmonkey is making things up. Just that a lot of the rumours he provides don't come to pass, so best not to get over-excited on that basis alone)

Other than the (obvious) special character, the "Terminator first Hand" could potentially be an Iron Hand sergeant to lead tactical squads.

Bah. That makes sense, but I was hoping that the First Hand would be the senior sergeant in a chapter's first company, or something like that. Something to introduce the idea that (non-specialist) Space Marines have more than just four ranks. But noooooooooo, you had to go and introduce common sense and crush all my dreams.

I'm a bit worried by this leak. I'm worried because it look very legit. I'm worried because I'd New Line/Warner Bros take the wrong view it could result in a lawsuit. It could spell the end of GW that we've all come to love. Or in some cases hate.

I love the sound of all the products listed. They all sound awesome. The fact that we might never see them upsets me.

Here's how I see the next Codex Space Marines working out:

-Ultramarines army list (also covering all other strict Codex adherent chapters)
-Iron Hands army list w/ unique units & special characters
-White Scars army list w/ unique units & special characters
-Imperial Fists army list w/ unique units & special characters
-Black Templars army list w/ unique units & special characters (?)
-Salamanders army list w/ unique units & special characters

In order for this to work it would have to be a massive Codex, but I think it would be a step up from simply using the same list with a special character to unlock chapter traits. This way the special character would not be necessary.

Also, two other points: the divergent additional army lists could simply point to standard SM units like the 3rd edition mini-dexes did; too, these could of course cover any chapter having similar traits, such as successor chapters.

I can totally see a huge SM codex being released with a bunch of variant lists shortly after another "generic warband" Chaos Codex.

Someone a few posts back said that New Line/WB wouldn't really care that much as the leak is without any photos Hopefully they won't sue

Hrmm why another chaos codex exactly? All we've had for the last couple is spikey vanilla marines. If the rumors concerning the new codex are half true then renegade marines should be viable. Thanks to allies we can represent traitor guard and daemons plus (salt) an allies codex next year. A renegade codex is unnecessary. Also "generic chaos" makes not one bit of sense.

He's referring to the upcoming book and is concerned/is imagining that whereas an SM codex a year away might be 'Here's loads of cool chapter-specific units, special characters and rules to theme your army!' the upcoming CSM book might be 'Here's an icon - you're World Eaters now!' It's a sentiment that I don't think will play out according to the CSM rumours, but a valid one nonetheless.

I think that any word coming from the inside regarding that list is not very reliable. It's not like they are gonna say "oh yes, you caught us".
