I likey... a full canoptek list might be in my future. Very much the matrix, but I think amassed, a nearly full, if not complete canoptek army would look awesome

They are both Jump/Jet Infantry (pretty much equal), both S6, but those Necrons are 3-9 per unit, 3 wounds instead of 1 (!!!), 3+ instead of 4+ and T5 instead of T3. Not to mention Spectres melt in CC while these things rock.
Points are just ridiculous compared to Spectres - I wish I could take such "upgrades" for 10 points each. *envy*
How are they S6? Also, they are like ogryns, but with a 12" melta instead of a rapid fire gun, and S4 instead of 6, jump infantry, but 15 points more per and take up a fast attack instead of troops.

They have amazing stats but really put me off with the look.
Yes, because FW stuff is clearly over the top... http://www.scribd.com/doc/57828241/T...-Alai#download 225 points is still way over priced, and to think, he used to be 270...

With the Phantom Titan it happened soon after the book, ie with 6th Edition.

Are you really comparing them to Ogryns of all things?
Ogryns are 12" S5 AP- assault 3, S5 (plus FC) and with a 5+ save Ld 7 stubborn.
They are also elites, which, admittedly, is not as coveted as Necron fast attack.

Its not better then scarabs or wraiths, so I don't see what the fuss is all about.

Its not that killy in combat (unlike wraiths), not as tanky (wraiths agains), and doesn't really add anything with its str 6 ap 2 melta (really, you're having problems with armor as necrons?).

But unlike many FW creations, it isn't garbage to take, so well done to FW.

this ^. I was wondering the same thing. It's like GW is forcing the 40k apocalypse with the models lol.

They are much tougher versus small arms, about equal versus missiles in the open (quite a bit tougher if they have 5+ cover thanks to stealth) and worse versus S10 (Butchered, unless you have cover).
I would say they are about equal to Wraiths frankly, but I have only seen 2 necrons games in 6th, so haven't really had time to see how they function yet.

Verry cute modells, and for the rules: i think they would be nerfed into IA 12

Like a previous poster said, were is there rightful place? Wraiths are about as survivable but do CC better. Is a Low Str (AP2 not AP1) Melta weapon with a 12" range really that scary when taken into context with lots of 24" or 12" Rapid Firing gauss?

I see them fitting in with a heavy Tesla themed Necron army, where gauss weapons are at a premium and need reliable portable vehicle or heavy armor killing options. Lots of Tesla Immortals, a unit of these guys backed up with 2 units of Scarabs and a few Spyders might be interesting.

These provide mobile support to an army like mine composed of triarch stalkers. Whereas before I wanted to use wraiths for their overall usefulness, not having a weapon to fire in the shooting phase doesn't synergize as well as these things do. Now I have twin linked melta shots with these guys ( doesn't matter that they are S 6 when they get in melta range, and AP2 is the new AP1 in some respects.) T 5 means no instant death ( which is what my wraiths currently fear) and that stealth will boost whatever cover they have ( so I would equate that to a 4+ invul. Then we say three wounds and the fact that, like wraiths, they have rending but ALSO entropic strike? This means that those bigger tougher vehicles are going down for sure, and now your wraiths have something they can keep up with and protect from close combat ( screen with wraiths for more fun).

Interesting. The Forge World website says it's available for pre-order to despatch on Aug 31st. I ordered a set last week and it's already showing as shipped. FW orders generally take about a week or so to get to California so hopefully they'll arrive by tomorrow or Monday. It'd be the first time FW would send me something earlier than anticipated. Took them 2 months to fulfill my Storm Eagle and Tartaros Terminators order.

Time for shipping tends to depend on demand. Models with low demand they tend to have enough produced to send them out right then. Popular models they may run out and have to cast more up before they can fill orders.

The points cost doen't look that far out - it is the same as a nob biker before upgrades - both are mobile, both are fairly resiliant, although the necron more so, the orks have the edge in close combat, , and have more shots to make up for the worse balistic skill, unit size is equivalent.
