Hi all, I've been out of the scene for quite a few years as other things got in the way, but looking to take up 40K, having previously collected LOTR for a short while, then the High Elves and Lizardmen.

I imagine this forum is like others and you can't participate in the trading section until you have a certain number of posts/member for a set amount of time/reputation or something? As I still have all my models that I'd hopefully raise some funds for new ones!

Anyway, haven't yet decided which army to go for in the 40K universe; always used to be interested in the Tau, Necron and Tyranids, but I'm sure it's changed a bit in the last 5 years or so!

Looking forward to getting involved again

When it comes to choosing an army for 40K just go with what you enjoy building, painting & it usually helps if you like their fluff (which has indeed changed in the past 5 years, somewhat anyway). Though I think the poor Tau are still on the same codex as they were 5 years ago lol.

This is a great time to get into 40K either as a noob or a returning player since it JUST changed editions, thus many veteran players are (in a sense) noobs themselves since it takes time to learn the new rules and learn them well.

Agree, play the models you like and adapt the tactics. If you want to play competitively, I would suggest that you don't.

Thanks for the tips guys, that was pretty much what I thought, and I'm not likely to be playing very competitively anytime soon anyway!

I just finished reading Rise of the Tau, which pretty much got me back thinking about Warhammer and the universe.

When I'm able to post in other parts of this forum (when I'm allowed to) I'll be asking some questions I'm sure as I get back into it

Yep, I do like the Tyranids a lot... I'll probably end up starting collecting a couple of armies until I make up my mind and then sell/trade the second one!

I'll start a thread in the proper place when I'm ready to ask proper questions, thanks for the advice so far!

Necrons are quite awesome at the moment due to them having the latest codex (they made the rules based around 6th ed) but if you just want to play casually then like everyone's saying choose what you like best, and last but not least... Hi
