    Newbie to Necromunda with Redemptionists

    Hi guys,

I have recently picked up some redemptionist gangers from ebay, but dont know all that much about Necromunda. I have the rules, and the Redemptionist PDF, but was hoping to get some advice.

I have three barechested figure with knives and what looks like autopistols - presumably these are devotees and running them with a knife and an auto pistol is a decent idea?

I also have a robed, shotgun holding model - presumably a crusader with shotgun. Is this load out good, should I buy any of the ammo for him?

I also have most of the GW redemptionist box - 2 Devotees, 1 Zealot (with eviscerator), 4 robed figures. What are the best load outs for these figures? I do not have any of the original weapons, so feel free to make suggestions!

I was thinkin of somethig like Priest, Deacon, Deacon, Zealot, Crusader, Crusader, Devotee, Devotee, Devotee, Devotee, Devotee - but do not really know very much about weapons choices etc.

    Thanks!

Are you using the ORB or the NCE one? It matters on how you equip your gang. The NCE allows you to "sling" your weapons, basically giving a shotgun wielder the ability to use 2 HtH weapons in close combat. In the ORB you can not do that.

With 435credits you can outfit them very well. Though with the way they earn income try to leave 100credits in your "bank."

Redemptionist are really close combat specialist: HtH, Evisceratior, Flame Weapons, Shotguns and Pistols. The Priest and Deacons are the only ones able to buy the rifles. You can't go wrong with sticking to that fact. Also look at their available Skill options. They all get Ferocity and most get Combat, all Skills to get close and personal and then kick butt when they do.

Try to spread among your gang clubs and/or swords. The club is a Str +2 weapon and the sword allows you to parry. Decent weapons for gangs starting off.

If I remember correctly, the Redemptionist have no heavy weapons available to them. Meaning they'll be highly mobile. The other great thing about them is that everyone can be outfitted with a 1 shot flame weapon; the Exterminator. Auto-hitting is a great thing.

Try to protect the Priest at all cost and have 2 Deacons on hand always. The Priest abilities, Inspire and Redeemer(converting), are to valuable to have to restart a Priest and without a Deacon your Crusade crumbles into a Mob.....you don't want to have to switch to a Mob.

Basically, give most of your followers HtH weapons, attach a Exterminator to the weapons if you can. Give 2-3 of them shotguns w/scatter shot (scatter shot ignores covers) and a HtH. Use your Priest and Deacon as "snipers" and to proved cover fire. Use the terrain to your advantage and close with your opponent asap and torch em! You can even run your Priest/Deacons along with the followers, using the followers as meatshield, and when the opponent is engaged...add the Priest/Deacon to fights so that you are attacking 2vs1. Have the Priest attack last for the bonuses and hopefully they'll get easy wounding exp.

ORB or NCE? What are they?

I was thinking of this as a list:
Priest w/ Boltgun, Chainsword, Exterminator 235
Deacon w/ Lasgun, Chainsword, Exterminator 125
    Deacon w/ Flamer, Autopistol 115
    Zealot w/ Eviscerator, Exterminator 105
    Crusader w/ Shotgun, Club 80
    Crusader w/ Shotgun, Club 80
    Devotee w/ Club, Autopistol 50
    Devotee w/ Club, Autopistol 50
    Devotee w/ Knife, Autopistol 40
    Devotee w/ Knife, Autopistol 40
    Devotee w/ Knife, Autopistol 40
    960

ORB = Original Rule Book ((the one off of the GW website under their Specialist tab)), also known as the Living Rule Book

NCE = Necromunda Community Edition ((found at Yakromunda website))

Think about switching the Priest Boltgun to a Lasgun. You are reducing the Str of the hit by 1, but you are increasing the chance you wont lose it in the middle of the game due to a bad roll on the Ammo Roll. Boltgun is a 6+, while a Lasgun is a 2+.

With the added credits you can afford to give those last 3 Devotees either a club (+2 Str) or drop the AutoGuns for Stub Gun w/Dum Dum rounds (Str4). You'd have to be wise to know when to use the Stub Gun outside of HtH; since if you fail a Ammo Roll the gun will explode.
