The black you're using is pretty thick it seems, at least on the first terminator, but I like the colour it ends up giving. Very nice, though it's a bit more BLUE than I'd expect Black Legion to be. I'm considering stealing it for my Night Lords...![]()

Hehe, I'm not sure if thats caused by the lighting I'm using. It's pretty harsh and I need to figure out how to do some decent photography. But the black paint shouldn't be thick. Though one of them is a repaint (I got a handful of termies off of someone here on warseer)

Your wheatered Predator Turret already looks pretty spiffy to me, especially the rust effects. Just keep on painting and you'll get there! What I found helpful break the monotomy of the black, is paying extra attention on the details (like exhausts, power cables, skulls, rivets etc). These will draw the eye and help define the model better. That way, you prevent your black model looking 'just' basecoated.

K, once again, trying something new before I settle on a scheme. Tell me what you think of this. I'm shooting for a Dante77 look on his Black Templar. However I think the golds are too bright, even after dulling them with agrax earthshade. Any suggestions? This model is only half done because I'll finish it later but its not a current model and I wanted to see how the technique looked.

By the way, most of that gray is the paint, not the light.

I think that was achieved after I took this photo by lining it with a badab black wash instead of washing the whole model. I'll paint up another termie and post pics later todayThanks for the comments guys. Keep em coming.
This is the black I'm shooting for. It was done by the best black armor painter I"ve seen yet, his name is Dante77 on coolminiornot.
*UPDATE
This, this I am happy with. I placed the model at the corner of that box facing me to find out where the light hit, then I put him on the left corner, facing away to get the light on that side. I find that I needed to dull the metal as it was to lustrious. Thoughts?
This is a better pic, once the wash dried to make the tin/gold duller. And I pulled it away from the light so you can see the highlights better.

I'm particular to dirty/grimy looking gold, and your method is better than my own. Also, the base on that termie is utter fantastic, keep up the good work!
Real simple mate. Very few steps. Mix 50/50 tin/old gold from vallejo (or equiv colors) as a base. then 25/75 same colors and color a little bit less. then you find out where the light is hitting, and paint pure old gold. Then give 1 or 2 washes of arjax earthshade/devlon mud wash. That easy.

Personally, I dig the strong blue highlights, it's different and looks really good.

Put together a Sorc for the army. From here on out I want to have at least a small part on every model representing taint, either possession or mutation. Soon as I get my terminator lord, I'll have him put together and hopefully it'll look as good as I think it will.

Nice kitbash on the Sorcerer, but the backpack detracts from it. Needs something with more pop.
