    2500 Ogres - somehow cheese?

    Fantasy Army: OK
Hi all. I haven't played any games with ogres yet, just ran this list up for fun to see what a shooty ogre list would look like. I also decided for fun to run it through the Swedish Comp scoring system. Turns out this army is pretty cheesy. Out of a score between 0 and 20 (0 being cheese, 20 being fluff) it scored a whopping 0.6/20. Now I'll admit this list is not soft by any means, but I don't see it being that bad. My daemon and dwarf playing buddy has told me "good luck winning any battles with that". What does everyone else think? Will this be a list to lose friends with

I would love to play this list... all the ogres in my area horde out on bulls and ironblasters..

in fact, I don't know how it scored low.. Calculate the average number of shots and hits per turn and compare to your average dwarf and empire gunline..

I'd actually agree with the previous comment and go as far as to say this is rather soft. Any OK that doesnt take to shitblasters is a nice guy in my book. Not to mention the fact that leadbelchers are absolute crap compared to for instance an irongut horde, neither do is see the standard mournfang + dragonhide asswuppin or any of those annoying solo nike tigers. this is cakewalk, in a cheesy neighborhood, you'd hardly be feta, let alone A class provolone.

This is the osftest ogre list i have ever seen. Anyone who complains has not had to face 8 mournfangs, 2 ironglasters and am irongut horde.

Ugh, played a war with this list last night. Got tabled by Tomb Kings by the first half of turn three. In my defense it was my first war with ogres ever and I was facing a TK list with Arkhan and the necrotect special character plus a generic tomb prince in a horde of tomb guard, plus 6 chariots, 6 necropolis knights and other goodies. Only got one round of shooting before we were in combat but at least I managed to kill the horde of Tomb Guard.

The sweedish comp overvalues shooting, not out of gameplay balance issues, but just to discourage gunlines and boring play. Which is where that really low comp score comes from.

I think that's too many blechers, they acctually don't land all that many hits, they're really good at clearing out small units so your combat blocks can get in, but not the best at wearing down the enemy blocks.

2 Units of 4 Leadbelchers is honestly enough. Use the remaining points to beef up that unit of Ironguts. That will make the army a little more well rounded and less all or nothing in the shooting phase. As for "cheese", I call ******** on the concept. There's no such thing, there's simply good tactics and crying babies who can't thing of a way around them. In all honesty, this list is quite flawed, it'd easily succumb to a list with a lot of fliers, largely cavalry armies may also prove a problem as they'll be charging you by turn 2, against hordes you'll likely find your fire-power isn't enough to break the large units. In all honesty, the list from a purely competitive point of view is quite weak although I'd imagine it'd be quite fun to play and at leasy you've given some Gnoblars something to do (so few people do), anyone complaining about this list is a pathetic whiner who can't handle facing armies they're not used to, don't play against such children find reasonable adults to play against, there's plenty of us.

I would suggest you lose 1 scraplauncher and go with two units of 4 leadbelchers like TornadoCreator suggested. You really need so more melee boys (guts or bulls).

Silly Jind. Trappers exist in the sense that NG Netters exist - as a unit upgrade.

I play ogres and there are a lot of issues with your list, frankly its not using your best units. If you want a solid shooting army, I would use something more like this as it keeps your theme, while still playing to some of the strengths of the Ogre List. This list also has a very good chance to surprise the hell out of the more Cheesy lists such as Teclis in a Phoenix Guard Bunker.

    Slaughter Master
    -Level 4, Gut Magic
    -Armor of Destiny, Iron Fist
    -Crown of Command
    -Sword of Striking

    Fire Belly
    -Level 2
    -Hell Heart

    10 Iron Guts
-Champion, Musician, Banner, Look Out Goblin
    -Banner of Discipline

    8 x Man Eaters
    -Musician, Banner
    -Sniper, Poison
    -8 x Bracers of Pistols

    6 x Lead Belchers
    Banner, Musician

    6 x Lead Belchers
    Banner, Musician

    2 x Iron Blasters

Thanks for the suggestion Citadel, I can actually see that list being quite a lot more effective.

    Don't take that boring list.

    Take some extra bits!

Who cares if its optimal. Chuck in a mix its an ogre army, make it a bit random. They still kick ass!
