Thread: 750 Jumping BA.

    750 Jumping BA.

    40K Army: Space Marines
    So me and a few mates, some brand new into 40k are starting some escalationgames at 750p.
    Great motivation to get stuff built and painted.
    Tossed together a 750 list with my BA last night and getting ready to assemble the final stuff and get painting. 20 minis should be done untill friday afternoon right? ^^

    I know some of the choices ain't the best but it's more of a drink and laugh group. My main consern is that I might have to few bodies on the table, and possibly stupid weapons equpied.
    A reason for choosing what I have is that I have the assault squad and DC ready and assebled and wanted to try all jumping BA.

    I do have a heap of plasmapistols, 2 flamers, 2 more handflamers, 5 infernuspistols. A meltagun and a plasmagun I could use somewhere.

    HQ:
    Librarian; JP, force sword. (Shield and bloodlance)

    Troop:
    10 x Assaultsquad; 2x Handflamers, Powersword, meltabomb.
    4x Death Company; 1x Thunderhammer, JP.

    Elites:
    5x Sanguinary guard; 1 Powerfist, 1x Plasmapistol.

    Total: 745p.

    I thorn between plasma or a infernus pistol on the Sang guard and picked the plasma only because the coils are fun to paint.

    So, slaughter me?

    libby is good solid choice
    swap the hand flamers for straight up flamers mste. id also split the squad into two sepearte squads
    the dc seem good although id be tempted to put two power spwrds instead of hammer.
    sang guard...i hate them...lovely models crappy rules...id switch em for more standard assault marines n some more death company personally...id be tempted to swap the flamers on the assault squads for meltas though
    maybe give sergeants inferno pistols for tank busting

    also y no priests?

    Yeah I was thinking about swapping the HF for real flamers. What i really would like is 2 meltaguns but since I only have one that was a problem.
    Splitting them in 2.. well I can always combatsquad them after seeing what my opponent brings really.
    Same thought about the DC aswell, but some S10 on the charge can come in handy for stuff like Daemonprinces. (yeah the chaos guy has one in 750p)

    What's the issue with the SG? Jumping 2+ guys with powerweapons. Sturdy and pack a real punch. Only thing I thought when the BA codex came was why don't they get +S from 2 handers. With the new PW rules that's not really an issue.

    To get some use for sgt, inf pistol would be to change the role of the unit. (regular AM) and waste the normal shooting for one shot at a tank within 3", worth it?
    And I have no priests simply cause a JP priest is 75 pts for a 1W 3+ FNP guy. I do love them but at this points they feel a tad expensive. I could drop the DC for 1 with 95p spare. But what on earth would I do with 95p?

    I agree with Nasha, You really really need one priest in this list. Sanguinary Priests are amazing, they make your squads more survivable as well as making them rape anything MEQ in assault. You NEED one. If you're afraid of him dying, then just hide him in the back of your squad and in assaults accept challenges with your sergeant, not the priest.
    I'd also drop the hand flamers for meltas, as well as maybe dropping the Sanguinary Guard for another assault squad

    id amend the list to this
    libby with jump pack and epistolary
    priest with jump pack and combi (whatever)
    2 x 5 man assault squsds with power weapon and melta (or cpuld take one with inferno pistol and melta for anti tank killy)
    6 death company with jump packs and thunder hammer

    that list gives you what you already had but adds a more versatile way to play it. ok you lose the sang guard but the libby can now use two powers a turn the priest can keep your anti tank squad alive and the dc gained a member for extra attacks...

    Aye I hear ya.
    I'm a big fan of priests so no worries there, I have 3 atm so.

    I'll see what I can get together with what I have that's similar to the suggestions. I also don't think the Epistolary is worth it as I'll be rolling with the Shield anyway, 1 in my turn and 1 in his, so that's 50p down the drain as long as I won't go BRB spells.

    I'm thinking more in the way of..

    10 Assault, 1 melta, 1 flamer, PW and Meltabomb.
    5 DC, TH, JP.
    2x Speeders with MM.

    Should fit right in.

    but also remember using your force weapon cpunts as using a power...or it did last edition if someone wants to clear that up for me.
    the speeders are good but being your only vehicles and only lightly armoured expect them to die pretty rapidly...also i still think smaller units work better but each to their own i guess. good luck n let us know how it goes mate

    Yes, a force weapon counts as using a power weapon. The only difference is you have the option of activating it to make a wound instant-death.
    The only thing I would amend with you list is to change the flamer on the assault squad to an additional melta. This gives you more punch when you close in against armour, as well as the occassional terminator squad or 2+ save unit.
    Other than that I think it's good

    Yea it does. But you can still use it during your opponents turn and use a psychic power on your own turn
