    FSA to BFG.

Has anyone thought about converting the wonderful ships and fleets from Spartan Games Firestorm Armada over to Battle Fleet Gothic? I ask as my real love with Space battles has to be with the elegant Gothic. FSA does have some elements that I like, mainly Alternative activations.

Also I think it would be easier to get interest, as the GW prices are quite silly, and the rules for BFG are free to download from the GW site, plus the FSA models are good value for money and very nice!
The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

I have seen people make rules for BFG ships to use in FA but not the other way around. It could be interesting tho, do you have a fleet (or ship) in mind that you could post a before and after example?

    Re: FSA to BFG.

Why not just go count as?

I bought some retholza to use as necrons,
    Dreadnought as tombships
    Destroyers as scythes
    Shunt cruisers as shroud cruisers
    Frigates as jackal escorts

You likely couldn't use them at a tourney (unless you made cool conversions where the FSA models are battling or flying by wrecked GW models), and I actually rather like the BFG ship offerings, especially once you consider the forgeworld models.

If you wanted to do a crossover thing under existing rules, you could use the Rogue Trader fleet list and shoehorn anything escort sized into the quite flexible Xenos ship role.

    Hi,

which tourney? Since there is no GW official BFG tournament I doubt they'll be banned. If you use them count as and point this out to the organizer/opponent in a good way and make it all clear I see no issues with it.

I read this as you want to use te FA fleet and background etc... only with the BFG rules. Correct? I doubt anyone would have any issues with using these in a "counts as" fashion either tho. Ive only played FA briefly so im not too familiar with the rules but iirc its pretty much DW in space right? The spartan ship stats should not be very hard to convert to BFG standard then if thats your intention.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

    I don't see a problem there.

The only thing might be bases. Quite a few of the bigger FSA ships have dual stem (some even triple) bases that wouldnt be too easily replaced by BFG bases.

The next think is that the large FSA vessels are a lot bigger than the BFG Battleships. Cruisers and frigate fit rather well, but the FSA battleships and Dreadnaughts might seem your oponents center pieces like a bad joke.

As long as this doesnt disturb you i would go for it. Especially as im a real fan of some of the Spartan ship designs. (As you can see in my Gothicomp entry for this year)
