    Best model in 40k

I was just curious what the popular opinion was on the point-for-point best models in the game. A few that came to my mind were...

    Space Wolves Grey Hunter
    Dark Eldar Ravager
    IG Vendetta
    Ork Shoota Boy
    Space Wolves Long Fang
    IG Chimera
    GK Psybolt Razorback

If this thread gets enough interest I'll make a poll.

Definitely gotta throw my call in at the trusty Ravager. It's cheap, mobile and horrifically effective against pretty much any vehicle in the game. They do well against every force I field.

Still leaning towards Sly Marbo myself. 65pts, he's a steal. Jokaero's are no slouches either.

Flamer of Tseentch. With the new rules they can reliably wipe out almost anything at rather low point costs - a full unit has a 75% chance of destroying a Land Raider, they can wipe out units of Marines with ease, hurt hordes a lot and work against TEQs as well. Their Jump Capability means they can usually pick the models that go first and circumnavigate wound allocation issues.

Totally agree with both Sly and Flamers.

For Orks, a Warboss on a bike with a PK is pure hell on wheels (pun intended)

Point for point, the Vendetta is the most points efficient unit. Armor 12 flier transport with room for 12, 3 twin linked las cannons, and rules to drop troops out the back when it moves flat out. And can be taken in squadrons of 3.

Last edition, I'd have said Death Cult Assassins.

This edition, I'm going to go with the Vendetta as mentioned above. The humble Long Fan unit with 5 missile launchers is still a beast as well.

Interesting that we don't see any bike or jetbike units mentioned, concerning 6th is said to be bikers edition.

If I may have an opinion even though I haven't played 6th yet. Ork shoota boyz are a amazingly killy for their points cost. If I was a space marine, I'd trade my bolter for a shoota any day.

That said, I'm luckily an ork. :-)

Wyches I think they look great, Thunderwolf Cavalry too.

    Re: Best model in 40k

For me it also has to be the Vendetta, a massive steal at 130pts especially in 6th Edition.

I would have said Wyches in 5th, but with overwatch now I think they got nerfed quite badly, although that may just be because I haven't got the hang of the double tap charge yet.

I would agree though that bikes got a lot better and Dark Eldar Reaver jetbikes are now pretty awesome.

Sly is a steal, because his Demo-charge is a bitch against terminators. Especially when he just drop out from anywhere.

The humble tau firewarrior when taken in large numbers although the trolls will tell you how overcosted they are no longer true in the 6 . Also a lot off battlesuit options are visciously undercosted.

those BA assault marine rhinos that you can trade for (if this was last edition)

this edition a toss up between the vendetta and Marbo and they have always been good (and i found marbo enjoyable too)

A year ago, the deceiver was the absolute best model, point for point, in the game. It should have been 450-500 points, not 300.

Now, there are a lot tied for best. I'd say the grey knight xenos inquisitor is extremely hard to beat for what it does at about 100 pts or less.

The best Model (model wise not rules wise) is whichever appeals to you most.

For me its space wolves wolf guard, each and everyone can be built and painted as a character in and of itself
