Transferring E-Books To Kindle

Hi. I am sorry if this has come up before. Anyhow...

I bought Fear To Tread eBook. I am, however, confused how to transfer it to my Kindle Keyboard 3G.


1. After selecting Mobi my computer says Windows cannot open this file Which file should I chose to download it into? Adobe Reader?

If anyone could give me a step by step guide, that would be great.

2. On another occasion I used up my five Mobi somethings, and now I have reached the order limit What do I do?

Do you have a Kindle reader installed on your computer ? Windows cannot read .mobi files, but the reader can. So you'll just have to download the file to a 'My Kindle Content' folder, lauch the Kindle reader, and select the file from there.

I'm afraid that if you have reached your limit of five downloads (as I have on some of my eBooks), you'll have to buy them again ... from the Blakc Librairy, we buy a "license to download" that is only good for five downloads (it's in the EULA somewhere, in tiny print).

Yup, that's what I do with my tablet with Kindle on it.

Another very useful tool is to use the send to kindle app from Amazon.

really simple to use, install it then:

1. find your mobi file
2. right click
3. send to kindle
4. wait and enjoy your book

Thanks. I've installed Kindle For PC. I have the book up in Kindle for PC. What do I click to get it to my Kindle?

Go to your Library if you're not already there.
Click Archived Items.
Double-click on the title you'd like to download - it will download and open automatically.

On Kindle to PC it is in Downloaded Items but when I open my Kindle it is not there?

You want to put it in the folder that has all your other files in. Easiest way to find it when you have plugged it into your PC .

After that, its a matter of just unplugging your kindle and it should update itself. The book will then appear on your kindles front page (depending on how much you have bought and how your organise it all of course). Will have a little 'new' label by the books left hand side.

Personally I use Caliber - E-book manager . It is a free, very easy to use program that sorts out all your ebooks into a library (similar to what itunes does for music etc) and pops them on your kindle at the click of a mouse. It also works as a file converter allowing you to convert those few file types that a kindle cannot read into file types that it can.
