    Re: None-Magic Armies

I ran a DoC list with no magic for the first time yesterday.

    2200pt
    Bloodthirster
    Herald of Khorne on Jugger
    Herald of Salaanesh
    36 Bloodletter
    35 Dameonettes
    3 Flamers
    1 Soul Grinder

Was tabled in 4 by Ogres.

So lesson learned, and I wont be doing that again anytime soon.

San you didn't really explain why. Also one game isn't going to tell you whether it will work or not. Every army will never be able to beat every other army. I'm guessing the fact that your Killing Blow is useless against Ogres was a possible factor as well as magic. Whereas that wouldn't have been a factor vs normal troops. Same thing with Daemonettes ASF at S3. Or did you just get hit by a couple of unit killer spells?

The original poster was referring to two armies which have both agreed to go without magic. (thus your point about defeating a magic army is irrelevant)

    Which.... sounds great to me!!!

I'd love to see more games fought that way, is how battles are meant to really be battled out between each other.
(but then again... I am of a historical wargaming bent, and even with my fantasy I see at as more of a time long past spiced up with some magic! Rather than how most here seem to see it, where magic is the be all of everything and the focus of us all)

Warriors of chaos can be a very fast army if you load up on dragon ogres, marauder horsemen and shaggoths, also keep in mind that dragon ogres with additional hand weapons will be just as good as chaos warriors in combat, the front rank is pumping out 5 S5 attacks per model, while some of the stats are lower they have a easier time of picking fights, and getting into the flanks of enemy units.[/QUOTE] @ logan oops stuffed your quote...

This is true! A little bit of action in the shooting phase as well (if giving the marauder horsemen something to throw) an army like this without a wizard is as good an example of any.I would try it out but my dragon ogres never like fighting for me...4 of them were beaten up by 15 orc boys last time! But love the shaggoth,i send that thing to hunt war machines sometimes, stomping small units on the way!

Yes-- fair point: in small games, magic defense is less compulsory: most armies will have at most one lord, and some couldn't realistically fit a Level 4 wizard into such a small list. I'm definitely willing to go no-magic if I know that my opponent is only bringing hero-level mages...
