    Lure of Chaos - spell question

    The spell has a range of 12" and must be cast on the closest enemy model. Roll a D6 and add theChaos Mage’s Leadership to the score. Then roll a D6 and add the target’s Leadership to the score. If the Chaos Mage beats his opponent’s score he gains control of the model until the model passesa Leadership test in his own recovery phase. The model may not commit suicide, but can attackmodels on his own side, and will not fight warriors from the Chaos Mage’s warband. If he wasengaged in hand-to-hand combat with any warriors of the Chaos Mage’s warband, they will immeadiatly move 1" apart.

    If the controlled model kills anyone (OOA) who gets the xp? my magistar or the controlled model if its a hero?

    Neither. The "controlled" hero is a zombie in this situation, can't gain exp. The caster wouldn't get the exp, cause all he/she is doing is directing the "zombie" on where to go and what to do. The caster is not using their own skills or stat-line through the controlled model so the caster is basically lounging back and sipping a daiquiri watching all the fun.

    I'd argue that the hero still gets xp. He gets to use his skills and his weapons, so he isn't really a zombie. He is just momentarily insane. And the rules say that if a hero takes anyone OOA, they get a point of xp for it. Now, if the spell itself said no xp, that would be a different matter.

    IE: By Raw, they get xp

    and of course thats the flip side of the coin. Though, the hero is not "insane" either. The hero is under control of the evil caster and therefore not actively seeking to injure his own. He is not in control of his actions.

    BUT...it is all in how you wish to play it. RAW is piped around to often, in my group we go for fluff and the intent of the rules. So we have always played it that neither gets the experience for neither are directly involved in the actions that can lead to a OOA. Yep, you can argue what it means to be "directly involved," but again the Hero is not in control of what he is doing and the evil mage is not ghosting him/her -self into the body of the Hero and using ONLY their own skills/talents.

    Either way, it up to you. Enjoy.

    Re: Lure of Chaos - spell question

    I really hate to do this...but I have to change my answer.

    "+1 Per Enemy Out of Action. Any Hero earns +1
    Experience for each enemy model he puts out of
    action"

    It would be stretching the rules to say that a member of your own warband is the enemy. So if a model takes a friendly model out of action, no XP for him. At the same time, I don't think that the magister would get it either, as it wasn't him who directly took the model out of action. He ordered someone to do it, much like how he would order a henchman to do it.

    =====

    Another question though...

    Let's say that I shoot someone on a building. They get stunned, fail their initiative test, fall, and go ooa. Does the shooter get xp for that? He shot the model off of the building, but it was the fall which did the job, not the crossbow bolt.

    Ya makes sense was just curious how the xp was affected and what happened to it. I always saw the spell as almost like mind control and the magistar was in direct control of it thus experienced what the chartcter controlled would. Thus get the xp.

    thanks guys
