1850pts Salamanders
Trying to make an all drop pod army, here is my first attempt:
Vulkan He'Stan- 195pts
10 Sternguard, 10 Combi-Melta, Drop Pod, 335pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts

Re: 1850pts Salamanders
id possibly swap combi meltas for combi flamers....just for anti low toughness really...i know the bolters can do enough but d3 overwatch hits is better than 1

Re: 1850pts Salamanders
Hi!
I like that list as I am also toying between a Kantor drop pod list and a mechanised Vulkan one, but this hybrid is appealing!
I would go for a half-flamer/ half-melta list as detailed below. You would also have 15pts left over (youhouu) for, I don't know, a beacon? a power weapon? Anyway that's what I would do:
Vulkan He'Stan- 195pts
10 Sternguard, 5 Combi-Melta, 5 Combi-Flamer, Drop Pod, 335pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Flamer, Combi-Flamer, Drop Pod- 215pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Flamer, Combi-Flamer, Drop Pod- 215pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Flamer, Combi-Flamer, Drop Pod- 215pts
TOTAL: 1 835pts
But even if I like this list a lot, there are some questions I also asked myself without being able to fit properly an answer at 1850/2000pts.
You don't have a solid CC unit like the thundernators to block scary stuff, but maybe concentrate fire of 4 pods could deal with it?
How will you deal with flyers? Ignoring them can be a strategy (If you don't play only against necrons and IG)
Hope it helps!

Re: 1850pts Salamanders
I have been using lists like these against necrons (3 doomscythes) and mostly just ignoring them. Playing objectives, and just swarm them with 70+ marines usually does the trick. If the flyers get to close, then shoot meltaguns at them and hope for the 6 on a reroll.
The idea is just to blast elite unites with concentrated alphastrike fire. The list has 28 meltashots so even a unit of paladins is going to get evaporated. Vulkan and sternguard (2 attacks base) can hold their own against moderate foes.
New list with more flamers:
Vulkan He'Stan- 195pts
10 Sternguard, 8 Combi-Melta, 2x HF, Drop Pod, 345pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Flamer, Combi-Flamer, Drop Pod- 215pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Flamer, Combi-Flamer, Drop Pod- 215pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts
10 Tacticals, MM, Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod- 220pts

Re: 1850pts Salamanders
Vulkan counts as a separate unit, so can not be put into reserve with a Drop Pod.
He must start on the table, which means he will get hit with a LOT of firepower if the opponent gets first turn.
