Eldar Wasp Walker - Skimmer Stand and Jump Jet Flare

So I just recieved a trio of Wasps that I ordered from FW recently. I'm intrigued by the inclusion of skimmer ball stands as an option for basing the walkers, however the resin ball socket as part of the walker's chassis isn't cast very snug (like some GW kits...but not like the DE Raider!)

I'm hoping to mount the walkers without having to glue them to the skimmer stands. Has anyone had any luck modifying the sockets to better accomidate the skimmer ball stands without having them list to the sides?

One of the easier ways to do it is simply to add very thin layers of paint to the socket until they fit more snugly. One thick layer is not recommended in case it becomes too tight to work properly anymore. Not a lot of other options I can think of to adjust the fit of the ball and socket style mount.

Gloss the socket then use PVA to tighten up the fit. Works well, doesn't bond permanently and is removable reasonably easily.

Nothing to lose, I suppose I'll try either!

Editted the title. Considering another dilemma, and I haven't seemed to be able to find much in terms of other examples. Having the walkers floating in the air would seem a bit gauche--I'm looking to model some sort of plasma jet/flare activity on the exhausts. Anyone have any suggestions for getting the best look out of that? Right now I'm thinking I'll just green-stuff something, but a friend of mine also suggested melting plastic for a good look.

http://armorcast.com/store/index.php...sort=5a&page=1 might be something useful here. Mainly muzzle flares (the jump jet exhaust bits they do are orky) but they might be useful for reference if nothing else.

best of luck with the attempt. i took one look at that base and decided all my models would stand on the floor. if you managed to get through a game without breaking the thing, i would be very impressed.
