Legs aren't mark VI either, and the torso seems to be a mark VII.

Finecast has ofcourse it's issues, no argument there, but these finecast weapon packs are a great thing. I am happy metal is a thing of the past.

Totally agree. I play Iron Warriors, and use the conversion kit. Currently it is in metal, and a bit of a PitA to work with, especially compared to the plastic kits. I dream of the day when they'll be finecast, because assembly would be a real breeze!

I quite like the sternguard weapons pack. It's got so many uses beyond just sternguard. I quite like the heavy bolter and I'll use it for chaos too. The fact that it's finecast will just make the job of removing the imperial symbols so much easier.

It's also great that it includes a pair of PA lightning claws. Makes life a lot easier when trying to convert say a non-RG model to run as shrike.

for what it's worth, from Faeit 212:

Pre orders are up on the 15th for release on the 22nd along with the white dwarf about them.

I could imagine the WD and Pre Orders to both be the 22nd but he was very specific and said that they're "breaking the mold" to fit in DAngels.

22nd September is the day before GD UK. My local store has a WD release party listed on its Facebook page for that day too, which leads me to think that something is going on.

Interested to see what it is.

@ Rampent Speculation About Releases - Wouldn't read to much into the White Dwarf 22nd September release. Its a simple adjustment so that there is at least three weeks between releases. This months days and dates full a little funny is all. I'm 90% sure that there won't be a codex release for next month (being October release schedule, 22/9/2012 White dwarf). And I flat out disbelieve anything that appears on Faeit's site, he has said that C:CSM is coming out 'next' month for the last 6 months for crying out load. The earliest for C:CSM is November by my books and even then its a big maybe, though sooner then DA.

@ Actual Thread Topic - I'm really liking the Finecast releases that they are putting out. My Eldar will be so much more the happier for it. I think the days of whining about Finecast are over as I haven't had any defects in my purchases for the last 6 months.

    Cheers,
    Rom

    Re: mid-Sept. releases

I wish the Armor Through the Ages included the second set with the Mk VI, VII, and VIII sets. Once they run out of current metals to finecast, GW ought to consider rereleasing some other older models in finecast as collectors.

As for September releases, I'm wondering if the Sep 22 WD will include the next release, with a full reveal at GD. Hopefully CSM. We will see. GW has been wibbly wobbily about releases recently. September has 5 Saturdays so that makes a real mess. We have Dark Vengeance as the 1st, then 2 weeks later gives us these finecast releases, then GamesDay on the 22nd would fit with the 1 week prerelease for a 29th. And on the 29th, they could do a prerelease to cover the first saturday in October. Maybe a way to sneak in potentially Codex CSM and Codex DA at about the same time? The Starter doesn't eat up much sprue budget (only 3 tank sprues) and DA could get by with a minimal plastic quote (Deathwing, maybe Command Squad/Inner Circle kit, maybe a recut predator sprue?) which would allow for both releases practically side by side.

    Just rambling.

Coming from someone who's held off from buying any Finecast models, that's good to hear.

Looking forward to the sternguard pack as well. I'd rather work with finecast than metal and gw has always had a very open exchange policy for defects.

FW makes every mark of armour IIRC. They are a great source of some really cool looking marines in the various types of armor (and you can mix and match the parts.)

Actually they don't. They don't make Mark VII or VIII.

    Do they do Mark I?

Wasn't it mentioned that Mk VIII would be made in the next IA which concentrated on the Minotaurs, or did I imagine that?

You're quite right they don't do thunder armour either. I really don't understand why not either.

most ppl i know feel that the sternguard weapons pack is a ripoff.

they want multiple copies of stuff like combi-melta and combi-plasma and not the other stuff in the pack.

The pack itself is not unfairly priced though IMO, you get a lot for your money.

Having to buy multiples to get multiple of one weapon is, especially when I as a space wolf player already have PA lightning claws in the space wolf pack box and I can't use a heavy flamer at all.

Even saying that, I'll probably buy 3 or 4 to get all the combi weapons and sell the rest of the kit.

I don't see why any one would possibly expect GW to go back to selling individual bits, as much as we'd all love them to.
