Look out Sir! We're about to be shot by a Titan-scale weapon!

I think I need a home-brew on how LoS! works with Destructor weapons. Normally, blast weapons do a number of wounds to the unit, and then my poor grunts take up the shots until the wounds are all taken up. Alternatively, Draigo chooses to take a bunch of blast wounds to the face, in order to protect the rest of his unit. He then rolls against his invul save until all the wounds are used up. As far as I can tell, this means that the more friends Draigo surrounds himself with (er, has behind him) the greater the chance that the blast will kill him?

But the Destructor weapons confuse me. Especially with LoS! If the template is supposed to kill everyone under it, then my grunts should be completely killed, regardless of whether they're in front of, or behind, my independent character.

Don't see what the problem is... it's a wound, albeit one that was caused automatically and will kill you, aply Look out sir as normal.

Is it just that you don't like it from a fluff perspective? A trooper sacrifices himself to push/drag the character away from the blast, dies in the process.

Not liking something from a fluff perspective seems pretty good grounds for changing the rules personally!

I agree it makes no sense. Destructor ought to simply be way too powerful for an errant grunt to stop. Why not have something like after LoS! Roll 1D6, on a 4+ the grunt has vaporised them self for nothing and the character takes the wound as well!

Granted I'm not overly fond of blast weapons wounding from the front. Surely they should all act like barrage weapons in this regard?

I suppose it jars when Draigo absorbs all the damage from a Turbo-laser Destructor or a Volcano cannon, but if it's an Apocalypse game then it should be quite easy to blast them away with other weapons (or strip his invun. save away with a Vindicare assassin). I hoping they do a Apocalypse redux reflecting the changes in 6th (and make Titans tougher)!

Tougher how? They released a FAQ for 6th as to how Hull Points and Structure Points interact...

They only need to fix one thing with Apocalypse right now; how cover saves work with destructor weapons. I'm all for ignoring cover granted by terrain and such, but cover from special rules needs to work or Eldar Titans and Super-heavies have literally no defence against destructor weapons, what with blasts not scattering and all.

wait a minute, aren't the look out sir roll only apply ONCE for a single character? If the dude who happens to 'save' him is dead, that wound would automatically relocated back to the character man so he isn't possibly escape from titanic shot, believe me (unless one dude outside the blast radius is alive though, in this case the character might be saved if that character still linger in the back)

How many wounds does a LoS! mook take from a D-template?

ohhhh.... suppose that no single model has invulnerable save, that means you take as many models (closest first) as how many the template hits.

More of a 'see Forge World' for what to do. Anyway, it's only because when I used to play epic (as I gaze into the mists of time) dreadnoughts and MCs had no chance at all of seriously damaging a titan....

IT applies once for each wound, not once per attack. He'd get to LOS every wound.

I could see hitting a Harlystar with an Archon up front with 2++ rerolling with a Volcano cannon or the like. The unit takes, let's say 10 D hits, and the Archon just absorbs them all.
I think I'll model an Archon as Kirby.

Dreads and MCs usually have a good chance now with having higher Init than the titan.

It would be absurd if I fired my titans plasma blaster at a unit and one guy takes all the hits like: "Meeh". I mean it is a titan weapon.. You should be ashes or goo...

I think I figured out how to do this, and it seems obvious in retrospect.

I was originally confused about how many wounds were being caused, and then forcing a save for each wound. I shouldn't be doing it that way. I should just count the number of models, and then save vs. Instant Death for each of them. If Draigo tanks hits, then he only loses one wound each. If Draigo gets LoS!'d by a Paladin, the Paladin dies if he fails his 5+

This is logical. You can just follow mixed armor save rules and create a strength D wound pool. Apoc is meant to bring out the silly, awkward and insane of models and situations imo. Draigo tanking multiple D hits is insane and funny. I would approve of this in a real game.

Mr Rose--they corrected the FAQ and changed how eldar titan holo-fields work. Check it again, they're not just cover saves.
