Large blast on the magna-melta? Ouch... seems a bit ott to me. Blast would have been sufficient, I think.
Still, I think this is part of the HH build up. I expect this will be a varient in the Betrayal book.
Is it just me or are the sponsons on the model not available according to its rules?
They better take a second look at the experimental rules...Regardless of turret loadout, the Infernus is usually additionally equipped with sponson-mounted heavy bolters or heavy flamers.
I like how the model clearly has flamer sponsons, but it can only be upgraded with bolters or lascannons![]()

Yeah the large blast is just brutal, I don't expect that to stay the same.
No Signature right now.
On the facebook page theyve already acknowledged they have forgot the heavy flamer options, they are gonn a sort it out.
That thing is nice, just needs sponson meltas too. I kind of also find it odd that this and the executioner are not allowed for Chaos space marines, while the storm eagle can be taken.

Magnamelta option is slightly more expensive then a vindicator.
The Deimos have turretmount, sponsons, AP1 and melta rule that will probably not be used that much.
Vindicator have range and S10 ordnance.
I think it balances out.
EDIT: 6th edition prices for the Deimos Infernus upgrades, compared to the Executioner?
I like it, only the hunter-killer and the dozer blade didn't go down in price.
We will probably see the same prices in future codicies as well then.

It's a bit like a Devildog (which is 130ish points with multimelta) but:
* Not fast
* +1 front armour, -1 Side armour
* 18" range vs. 24" on the DD
* Large blast vs. Small blast on the DD
* Sponson options.
The large blast thing in 6th is pretty bonkers.
The rules have now been updated to allow heavy flamer sponson weapons.
It looks cool, nice that SM can now have a flame tank.
Strange how its available to all loyal marines but not BA, bearing in mind its basically just a Baal class with an additional option.
Being a BA player I'm finding it a commen thing with FW of late, take our kit, boost it and don't allow us to use it.

Not strange at all if you read the fluff. The background for the Infernus is that the AdMech developed this variant as an alternative to the Baal pattern Predator that the Blood Angels won't share with them.
I think it's pretty funny actually... BA don't want to share so they aren't granted access to the new toysThe Contemptor Mortis are similar as well, they are available to Vanilla, Templars and Dark Angels but not BA/SW. It's an interesting way of ensuring armies are a bit different.
Meh, I'd rather have the Executioner's 3 small blasts (and enough points left to buy sponsons!)
Of all the threads in all the forums in all the world you had to post into this one.
