    Dark Heresy Force Thunder Hammers

    Hey everyone,

I'm playing a Psyker in an epic campaign. Our GM has set up a mission for me to create a force weapon of my own. After completeing this mission I should have sufficient knowledge (items may ne near impossible to get) to create force weapons in the future. I was reading in the Acsension handbook, on the Primaris Psyker page, that the psyker will be given a choice of either a common craftsmanship force weapon or a best craftsmanship power weapon. This lead me to think, "What if I get a best craftsmanship thunder hammer?" Now I ask you do thunderhammers count when it comes to power weapons? If so when I upgrade the thunder hammer to a force thunder hammer I'll have to turn off the power field in order to use its psychic abilities. It has to take the mono-edged stats of its non powered counterpart. For a thunder hammer what would that be? The hammer or the warhammer?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Also if any of you have tried this before I'd really like to hear about it.

That depends on your GM more than anything, I personally wouldn't have a problem with it.

A thunder hammer 'refitted' as a force weapon should lose the power field entirely, counting as a mono warhammer stat wise with the force weapon rules. In background you never see a force weapon that is also a power weapon, I imagine that its difficult to get the disruption field to gel up with the psychically attuned crystal lattice that makes up the core of force weapons. However, that is for your GM to decide

I've never tried (or had players ask) to convert a powered weapon to a force weapon, its an odd path to take, but whatever works for your group. At the end of the day the GM's word is final, so I can only offer my opinion.

*Chuckle* I understand the desire to have it all, the weapon you seem to be describing may exist as the Nemesis Daemon Hammer. Getting the Template for that would be an interesting quest indeed. But for a regular Power Weapon (which a Thunderhammer IS)... *Ahem*

    *Snip*
"A Best craftsmanship Primitive melee weapon
that has received the Mono Edge upgrade can be
reforged into a force weapon. Chain weapons
lack enough suitable surface to inscribe the
sacred runes and psi-convector, while a power
weapon would have to have its power field
deactivated for the psyker’s own channelled
force to run through it; such a weapon would be
    extravagantly expensive, at any rate."

It would be up to your GM whether the Hammer also loses its Shocking trait and the X2 STR bonus when the power field is dropped. Personally I would never allow the stacking as it smacks of "munchkinism." The fluff also suggests these effects are due to the 'powerfield build -up.' (Unless, you know, you stole the Hammer from a Grey Knight of course.) After writing all this I have decided to suggest that you make a Power Stake instead!
