    Re: Design a weapon

Rhuin's Sword - The bearer has Flaming Magical Attacks and rerolls failed to wound rolls. In addition, Bound Spell, Power Level 4, Flaming Sword of Rhuin. May only be cast on own unit (30 points)

Talons of the Beast - Paired Wea strength, Bound Spell, PL4, Wyssans Wildform, may only be cast on own unit (50 pts)

Aiban's Blade - Armour Piercing. Has the Lore of Metal attribute (Metalshifting) when rolling to wound. Bound Spell, PL4, Blades of Aiban, may only be cast on own unit. (55pts)

Soulbow - Longbow. The firer always uses their unmodified BS when rolling to hit with the bow. Any unit hit by the bow immediately counts as a Daemon/Undead for the purposes of the lore of light attribute Exorcism, or similar abilities. Bound Spell, PL 4, Banishment. (40 pts)

Briarweave - Talisman. Any shooting against the bearer or his unit is at -1 to hit. Bound Spell, PL 3, Shield of Thorns. may only be cast on own unit. If the bearer is within a forest, then thebhits are at +1S. (35 pts)

Thunderbolt - Javelin. Shooting attacks made by the Thunderbolt have the Sniper special rule. A unit hit by the Thunderbolt takes immediately D6 S4 hits. Bound Spell, PL6, Chain Lightning. (65pts)

Okkams Razor - as above, clarifying that Modifier to strength and leadership apply before the switch.

Shard of Xereus - The bearer may exchange all of the normal attacks to make a single attack with the Heroic Killing Blow special rule.

Pestle - Great Weapon. If the bearer attempts to cast a spell from the lore of the great maw in the turn after causing at least one unsaved wound with the weapon then they add d3 to the casting total. If the bearer causes a unsaved wound with the weapon, then in the bearers next magic phase, the enemy unit takes 2d6 s2 hits with no armour save allowed. (65 pts)

Armlet of Protection - Talisman - When suffering an unsaved wound, the model has the same armour save and ward save of the model which caused the damage unless his own is higher (55).

Compared to just giving a great wepon it gives roughly 1 more kill per combat round. The proviso to give is that if you give it to a character with 4 attacks base, you have to get a bit lucky to get that 4+ ward, but on a khornate chaos lord you'd have to be unlucky not to get it. So, just looking at combat stats alone, probably overcosted at 75 pts, bought into line by the ward, and should not be allowed for characters with more than 4 base attacks.
Thank you finally someone that agrees with me. I am actually rather sick of running into combat character's maxed out on defense with just a great weapon.
I'll tell you what mate; the fact that you've gotten 100% positive replies on Warseer of all places is as sure a sign as any that you should start the army.

Knowledge: Know your own and opponents armies rules and units.
Experience: Good grasp of tactics and how rules impact on this.
Luck: At least getting an average deal from the dice.
Psych: Sometimes you can convince the opponent they are facing an uphill battle.

I actually don't think that the weapons, in of themselves, are too expensive. Neither are combat lords too weak - in the main. They simply cost too much compared to Wizards.

    I'd like more variation to combat Lords as well though - hordeslayers and heroslayers. You take hordeslayers to rack up kills in a unit-on-unit combat, while you take a heroslayer to kill or tank hordeslayers and other heroslayers that threaten your hordeslayers. To that end, for a quick fix, I'd propose two weapons;

Decimating Falx - Requires Two Hands. For each full rank of an enemy unit in base contact, the bearer recieves +1 Attack, up to a maximum of 10. (40pts)
Egotist's Rapier - The bearer's Attacks value is set to be equal to the Weapon Skill of any enemy in base contact. You cannot choose not to use this weapon, this means it may lower your Attacks value. (35pts)

The first one is rather nasty on, say, a Doombull. But it only gets really good if you're fighting Goblins or Skavenslaves so... it kinda balances out.
Dark Lancers Renegade Astartes Chapter, Chaos Space Marines - 7,000pts
The Undead Scourge, Vampire Counts - 2,500pts [log]
Averland State Army, Empire - 3,000pts [log]

Still need one more Zombie Dragon/Terrorgheist rider (the Blood Dragon, not Ghoul King)? PM me for much £££s!
Warhammer 40k or Fantasy player in North Wales? PM me!

Dueling Daggers 30pt - Character adds +3 weapon skill - counts and an extra hand weapon

Sickle of Undeath - Undead only 65pt - Any non-undead model slain by the character is turned into a skeleton or zombie and immediately placed into the back of the characters unit, this new model may not attack the turn it comes into play. If the unit the character is in is not a Zombie or Skeleton unit a new unit may be formed within 6 inches. The new unit is worth 50 points.

Potion of Kadon (Enchanted Item)- 100 pt - Potion may be used at the start of any turn. User comes under the effects of the spell Transformation of Kadon, as if cast by the lower power level. This does not count as a spell and may not be dispelled.

Star Metal Kopesh - Lizardmen only 45pt - Two handed weapon - Always Strikes first - 6+ ward save

Staff of Selection (Arcane) - 40pts - Character may move from any non-scouting unit to any other unit of the same type on his side during his movement phase. This counts as movement and the character may not shoot or move again in a turn in which he moved to another unit.

    Seal of Command - free.

Maybe only be given to Lords or Heroes. Model counts as having Inspiring Presence at a range of 6". Units may use the character's leadership if they have no other character in it, and are not in range of the General. Characters with the Seal which are killed are worth double their VPs.

    Robes of Heroism - 25pts
Characters get +1WS and +1Ld but must take 1 off their Look Out Sir Rolls

Btw I disagree wit the OPs premiss for starting this thread.

I used to read the GW Other Forum, but I am much happier now.

'I'm sorry, but I can't hear you over the sound of my Dragon'- Talisman, 10pts. Must be mounted on a Terror-causing monster.
The bearer can freely ignore a challenge without penalty. In addition, the bearers mount is always entitled to a Thunderstomp, even if locked in a challenge. This will be distributed among the enemy regiment as normal rather than against the challenging model.
