Nurgle Chaos Lord - Skin Tone advice

Can anyone advise what colours have been used to get the skin tone on this figure:

    http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/ca...d=prod1340007a

I'm not looking for an exact match - I'm just after the more pinky tone but can't quite work it out.

My palette consists of mostly old range citadel paints.

    Much appreciated.

    Hello there!

Well, I'm not sure if I can scour the exact paints they've used, but I presume they have used a couple of foundation paints as the undertone there, namely Dheneb Stone and Tallarn Flesh. I'd suggest you try to mimic those paints, or if you still have those in your trusty arsenal, all the better. I'd first base the skin in either of those two, the flesh color seeming more fitting as it is darker, and then work my way with highlights using the other colour, and mixing it in with Rotting Flesh (or similar). After the bulk of highlighting, use plenty of heavily diluted washes. I presume they've used them in an order of purple (just a tinge), red (even, thin coverage), some brown-reddish wash (notice the edges of the shadows?) and finally some murky dark brown for just the recesses.

That would be how I'd go about it, of course, the buboes and tears in the skin need to be further darkened and/or highlighted to get that bruising, brutal look.

All the best in your attempts,
    Goatee

Well, that model was painted with the old range of colours. However, a flesh basecoat would be a good start. Water down some of the new flesh wash and apply to the resessed areas. Then i'd be using perhaps light greys to make the resulting flesh tone more pallid and sickly. What they will have done there is blended up with several shades, then edge highlighted the sores. To get the effect around the stomach wound, water down some purple really far and use thin layers to build up the colour. The edge highlight of the flesh is reapplied to make it stand out. Thats pretty much what i did with my version. The pinkyness may well have come from the painter adding something like scab red to the base coat and working up from there. Scab red makes a nice pink.

As it was released some 6 months before the new paint range..... which means it was painted before that.
