    Interesting GW.

    Well, this is interesting.

Received an email today from our GW contact stating we are not to discuss ANY (emphasis theirs) upcoming GW releases prior to Sept 24th.

Now, It may come as no surprise GD is the weekend prior. But what surprises me is the information I get, rarely comes through official channels. Glimpses, discussions, off the records, hints, yes, but we are not working with marketing or production, so I was able to stay out of the NDA this time around...at least until now.

Now I'm curious what they think we know they want us to keep mum on....

    Curious.

Well it's not real news or rumors so not sure it's of any significance to anyone,

    Cheers.

Well, the next few months sound to ALL be Chaos, so I s'pose it could be counted as a single mega-release that they'd want to keep quiet about.

Chaos Release with a stealth DA release. Mark it!
Accept certain inalienable truths: Necrons will rise, invulnerable saves will fail, you too will deep strike off of the table, and when you do you'll fantasize that when you were young Necrons didn't come back, Terminators were gods and the scatter die always read "Hit".

It's probably to ensure they have something exciting for GD for us jaded veterans.

Could it have anything to do with a Hobbit release? I'm not sure what makes the most marketing sense, but according to wikipedia the toys would be released in October to drum up support for the movie. I think that kind of big money Hush-Hush would be the only thing to make such a drastic change.

I'm pretty sure the latest annual report said Hobbit for December.

    The answer must be:

DA is the official 3rd Codex of Chaos and being released with the Traitor Legions! (As well as being another Loyalist codex.)

Is that the same email that stressed in no uncertain terms not to sell or display the 40K starter set prior to midnight or have all your new releases delayed for 30 days for the next 6 months?

Hopefully there will be a surprise big release. That would be nice.

Someone mentioned a GW blackshirt saying that something special is happening in September, but apparently he was tight lipped on any details.

I've been speculating about a possible double codex release as a follow-up to Dark Vengeance, but I base that only on the inside back cover of White Dwarf.

September 24th should be the day we hear about advance orders for October, correct?

I was not aware that GW and the Illuminati where in cahoots. This actually gets me excited to see what happens

@Rated_lexxx: It's not the Illuminati, it's the Freemasons. That's even admitted in the Rogue Trader book!

    Re: Interesting GW.

Could just be an effort to make Games Day less of a damp squib than it was widely reported to be last year. People expect the annual Games Workshop Convention to be a bit of a reveal-fest and when everyone knows what it's revealing ahead of time, it can take the wind out of your sails a little.
I can sympathise but soon as the company realises that a good number of us have a budget and don't like to be ambushed with a week's worth of forewarning to muster up the cash to buy something (let alone the additional 48 hour deadline attatched to DV), the better.

@Chem-Dog: It's been a long time since GW actually previewed anything non-FW at Gamesday, and the event has deteriorated ever since.

Maybe this is the first sign of GW trying to revamp Games Day to rekindle interest, like they are currently attempting with White Dwarf?

    Re: Interesting GW.

I vaguely recall an interview (or press release?) from a GW head saying that this year would see an "unexpected surprise" but I figured that was, you know, unexpected to anyone who ignores rumor sites and forums. Maybe there's something in the pipeline that really IS a surprise.

As much as I don't like the rumor blackout... I'd actually applaud GW if they managed to sneak up some big release, completely and utterly and totally without a single rumor. It would be quite a feat.

Whoa whoa whoa, save some fire for Ragnarok, Surtr! you're telling me a black shirt said 'something big was happening' and didn't clarify? They do that every other month to try ad build anticipation for everything from thicker glue to "increasing" the chocolate ration from 50 grams to 35 grams. I frankly don't put too much stock in their words. Not to say I don't think big things are coming....

Did you know I have a blog? Neither did I, but apparently it's here! I review codices, write unbalanced, childish homebrewed rules, and post articles of my painting, conversions, and writing.

I do not think that word means what you think it means...
Forget the Heresy. That was a skirmish.
The 13th Crusade, nothing but a squabble.
The Tyranid invasion, a minor scuffle.

The real fight is beginning. The Orks are going to war.
