    Let there be light

My painting station is in a dingy corner of the spare room and given my painting needs all the help it can get I'm considering in investing in a light. I'm on a budget and would like something that replicates daylight if possible. Any suggestions?

    Boom. There it is.

Good strong white light for sculpting, painting and mini photography. Good long arm with a good range of motion and angling. That said, it might not have been the best design idea to place most of the lamp's swinging weight on the thin walls of that transformer.
I started with one of these and later got a similar micromark lamp - but with the transformer on the plug - for extra photography lighting. When the argos lamp cracked and collapsed on me, I stuck with the single micromark. It does the job! I would've linked you to one of them, but bizarrely, no-one online seems to stock them.

Yeah, but it won't be a good trail to follow after five days.

Plus, they have goofy shipping to Northern Ireland, which automatically makes them evil.

I use the argos one and it's just above my face, it does get a bit warm after time but nothing too bad, have you thought about painting your mancave white to brighten it up a bit too.

Is the one I use. I had to take the magnifying glass off as it almost set a fire when the sun was blasting through it one morning (I normally kept the blind down but had forgotten). Now that I've moved into the basement though, magnifying glass is back on.

Thanks for that Argos link. I've been on the look out for a suitable desk lamp for a little while and it looks as though that will do the job nicely

A good deal on at Hobbycraft right now for this great daylight lamp / magnifyer. I use one and it's better than sitting outdoors.

I like the look of that Hobbycraft one, too! If only I wasn't trying to save up a bit.
