SO...after playing a game against my friend's Dark Angels, I can see why everything is so damn shooty in 6th with the nerf to assaulting.
This got me thinking about how a Tau allied detachment to Orks could be very useful for obvious reasons. I am interested to hear everyone's tactics for this kind of strategy.
Examples: Take lots of FOC from Tau allies or just get the minimum of HQ, Firewarrior's and maybe a Hammerhead?
Deep strike battlesuits and/or stealthsuits? Is this wise?
Using a Shas'El with Targetting Array to pilot a Quadgun behind an Aegis Defense for a cheap BS 5 unit
Using Firewarriors equipped with EMP grenades in a Devilfish cuz you have to take 1 unit of them anyways?
I am interested in using the Skyshield fortification as well. I could deepstrike Stormboys safely, along with my Tau allies using positional relay or comms links (if I use an Aegis Line instead) to deepstrike their own units simultaneously could be nasty.
At 1500 pts you could take a Skyshield, 20 Stormboys, Tau HQ with bodyguards, 1 stealthuit team, pathfinder team with Devilfish that helps to deepstrike, and even throw a trukk in reserve with some meganobs and hope for a Turn 2-3 charge, might work esp. well if you get lucky on strategic traits for a Big Mek or Warboss to help with reserve rolls. Fire support could come in the shape of Big Gun Artillery units, 3 Broadsides or a Hammerhead, Lootas and maybe even a Big Mek with Shokk Atakk Gun for squigs and giggles. What do u think?
