Eldar 2000pts - First game of 6th Edition

    40K Army: Eldar
I have my first game of 6th edition tomorrow and am going to give my eldar a try. I will be playing against a Raven/Deathwing list or against a fully mech list (also DA).

    Eldrad - 210
    Divination

    Farseer - 140
Fortune, Doom, Spirit Stones, Runes of Witnessing

    Spiritseer & 10 Wraithguard - 396
    Enhance

    Exarch & 9 Avengers - 177
Power Weapon & Shimmershield, Bladestorm, Defend

    5 Pathfinders - 120

    Exarch & 8 Warp Spiders - 230
    Additional Death Spinner, Withdraw

    2 Vypers - 140
    Scatter Lasers, Underslung Shuriken Cannons

    1 Vyper - 70
    Scatter Laser, Underslung Shuriken Cannon

    3 Warwalkers - 180
    Scatter Lasers

    3 Warwalkers - 180
    Scatter Lasers

So for the most part I'm not really sure what the solid eldar units are in 6th edition. I saw someone mention Eldrad with another Farseer in a squad of wraithguard and i always liked wraithguard so I kinda wanna try it out. Has anyone tested a similar unit? Please let me know your thoughts along with any advise that you feel may be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Hi,
Seems like you will be running a wraithstar!
I would give them a 5++ with conceal on the spiritseer.
I would also give shuri cannons to all warwalkers, that way (if I am not mistaken) you will save enough points to field a third squad of 3 warwalkers with shuri cannons. That's a lot of bullets IMHO!
Not sure about the vypers, cause they are just doing the same stuff as the warwalkers here and cost more... maybe some fire dragons to deal with some pesky raven/death wings members?

You are lacking mobility for an eldar, combined with the fragility of most of your troops (even the wraithguards -without 5++-, just imagine one or two vindicators in front of you.... how could you start moving to the objectives?) it means you might struggle getting even up to midfield.
I would suggest dropping vypers for 2 serpents, then maybe dropping some spyders for dragons, or another squad of avengers.
    Hope it helps!

    Thanks for responding.

I was hoping to get the divination power that gives the unit a 4++ so I had skipped conceal. We also agreed to only use one force organization chart so dropping the scatter lasers to shuriken cannons and adding a third square of warwalkers would make me have 4 HS. I was also skeptical of wave serpents since they are quite pricey and was worried about the new hull point rules.

The game was against the mechanized list. Im not sure what mission was called but we were in opposite corners and each had an objective that we rolled to see what it did It went quite well since I got him on the defensive on first turn. I struggled to deal with the front armor of the predators since the sides were well blocked as he boxed himself in the corner. The wraithguard accompanied by the seers performed very well and proved to be extremely durable. They took a combined charge by and assault squad and a tactical and proceeded to overwatch the assault squad and beat up the tactical. The warp spiders performed quite well but I was nervous of not jumping away far enough with the new assault rules being 2D6. We also played without the option of premeasuring. The walkers and vypers performed fairly well they harassed his command squad and azrael once the rhinos were popped. The pathfinders had a hard time finding range since the whole game took place in his half of the table and they were camping my objective. They managed to snipe a single sergeant. D-Cannons worked great as a physco logical weapon and killed one tactical when I rolled hit 3 times for multiple barrage! All in all I feel the army did quite well but I didn't feel that the army was how I wanted it. I wasn't a fan of the deathstar walking up the field slowly, regardless of how effective it was. Perhaps I will try out mech despite all the doom and gloom.

    Hmm,
I only see 2 HS in your list: 2 squads of warwalkers... Did you forget to write another one? (that could explain the D weapon barrage stuff, otherwise I don't know what could do that!)

Ah, my apologies. I also had a unit of 3 d-cannons in the list. That makes more sense now
