    Re: Radium paints Eldar!

    Thanks for the replies guys!

    Anyway, I finally finished Eldrad!

Now that I've taken some pictures I see that I need to fix a couple of highlights, but aside from that the man is done!

Up next: some Wraihtguard (please ignore the rather poor quality of the picture, I really couldn't be bothered to take a new one after I noticed how bad this one is)

    Hope you like it!

I think your varnish is a bit glossy. Is that intended because you like it that way or did you want it matt? Especially on Eldrad it gives a lot of reflections making it harder to see the cloths. The painting itself seems pretty solid and "original Eldrad schemed".

Really liking Eldrad, I hate how much photos show up mistakes! Makes me appreciate miniatures so much more when the photographs show them as good. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Wraithguard. Still can't help but look at the Wraithlords every time I come to your PLOG, I love them so much!

He's not varnished at all! It's probably because of the light being so close to the model when I took the picture that you get the highly reflective effect on the model. I'll try to take a new picture later this week. Can't make any promises though, as this week is VERY busy for me.

Take your time, mate. Still interesting why it is that glossy then. You're using some kind of medium with your paints or so?

    Re: Radium paints Eldar!

Alright guys, having lost interest in 40k and painting a couple of months back meant no updates for a while. I'm back though! So hopefully I can keep myself motivated and continue painting some Eldar!

Nope. I have no idea why it looks to glossy in the pictures, it's rally matte in real life. Could be the light or something, I really don't know.

Thanks mate! Always nice to hear from you.

Anyway, new stuff! I really fell in love with distortion technology lately, so I painted my Wraithguard and D-Cannons. The picture quality is - as usual - really poor. I got a new phone/camera yesterday so I'm trying out different settings and whatnot to improve the quality slightly, so please stick with me while I try to figure that out!

Most of it is pretty straightforward and it's all done in a relatively simple paintjob. I just wanted to get some stuff done and posted here. I can already see some bits I need to fix when I look at the pictures, but for now this will have to do.
    Hope you like it!

Very good! I like those D-canons and your custom spirit seer is cool too!

It's a really nice force you're assembling here.

Whats the colours you used for that bone-stuff? Especially on the D-canon's barrel, I like it a lot. (and the blend is nicely smooth, same on the Wraithguard)

Thanks! Means quite a lot to me, coming from an accomplished painted such as yourself !

It's really simple though, it's blended from bleached bone to a mix of graveyard earth and vallejo sepia wash. Yes, a wash. All my blending is done using the wetblending technique and I don't like using retarders and such, so I need a really watery mix to be get a smooth blend.

They look great Radium- your army is really starting to come together. Love the custom spiritseer- it works really well [initially I didn't notice it was a conversion].
    Great stuff.

Looks amazing Radium. How do you get that kind of black, especially in the Guardian/weapon platform pics?

I use Coat d'Arms black. It tends to seperate, but if you give it a good shade before painting it's a very nice black colour. Highlights are done using various browns and bone colours mixed into the black, such as GW charadon granite, vallejo sea grey and GW bleached bone. There's no real set recipe for it, I just mix in some of those colours and slap them on. If I feel a highlight is too dark/light/cold I mix in some other colours.

I (finally) finished these War Walkers last monday as I needed them for a game. I actually did most of the painting on these years ago, but never actually finished them. Nothing too spectacular, but I felt like showing these to you guys anyway.

Those lightning effects look really snazzy!
